  • Ooh Pigpen hello, are you just dropping in or staying around for a bit? We have missed you.

Awake early, very snuffly. Have taken some Lidl cold and flu tablets. Off to hang washing out and put another load in. Need to check finance spreadsheet and meal plan etc. Feel so much less stressed now that the house is tidied, I just need to find a way to keep flying through the week!

Next weekend we have guests for rugby. Not white glove family (parents)...
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

(((Hugs))) to LW, YL, Biscuit's dog and anyone else feeling a bit down this morning.

LW, I do sympathise with you over your painful shoulder. That's just how mine feels at times. I am quite certain that MrLW counts you as a blessing, as you do him. None of us can help becoming ill, and marriage/partnership is not a commitment just for the good times. This has become very clear to me and my DH over the past 8 months with first him and then me acting as nurse-chauffeur for the other. We do go through bad patches, but we know that we are stronger together and we can face whatever the future brings better as a team than solo. You two make a great team!

Yesterday I suddenly realised that it was still quite light at 5.30 pm :) Spring really does seem to be just around the corner now, and our back lawn is turning into a crocus meadow. When we moved here, 3½ years ago, we had decking put in outside the French windows, and the spare soil was spread over the lawn area to make it less of a slope before new turf was laid. Obviously the soil had been full of tiny crocus corms - not the posh dark purple or gold variety, but the original "wild" type with spiky pale mauve flowers, of which more and more come up every year. It's really pretty, though quite unintended! The hellebores are flowering well, including the ones I planted out last week, and the later snowdrops are coming into bloom in a massive clump by the back gate. Spring is definitely my favourite time of year.

I managed to make better progress with my assignment yesterday and have written a big chunk. It will all need editing, of course, but I am happy with the shape it's taking. I got through the day with no tension headaches, and flew downstairs when I took short breaks, so those rooms are fine. WMx2 turned into WMx3, but that is all airing on and around the bathroom radiator, so it can be put away later.

    Plan for today:
    - church this morning
    - I must remember to check laptop connection on church sound desk, ready for Old Wives' speaker meeting tomorrow
    - make butternut squash and sweet potato soup for lunch
    - put away clean washing (nothing to iron :p) *and*
    - clean kitchen floor, ensuite and bathroom while soup is cooking ;)
    - do more work on my essay this afternoon

DH has a '40% off mains' voucher so is taking me out for a meal at our favourite haunt this evening. I am not objecting - the meat that I had bought for today has gone in the freezer for next week instead :D

See you later on the new thread. Hope everyone has a good, or at least better, day today xx

LW - hope you get the mediation first thing tomorrow. What a nightmare.

Feeling better for having had a more chilled day yesterday - tidying etc done at a slow pace with some breaks and a film in the evening. Just what we needed. Loads still to do, did an hour's admin stuff on the laptop sat in bed this morning and just put WM on - a white was with everything in - except the one thing I needed to wash. Think I'll have to change the bed to make up another white load! Ironing is on the 'must do' list for today.

    Morning all
    Just had my coffee.

Had a run in with bil on Friday in the process of inviting him to the meal for mums big birthday. She doesn't want a fuss, she feels she shouldn't celebrate without sis, but he is 'sure' she would enjoy a party and my other sis and I are letting her down. Then we got accused of not helping arrange funeral - he declined our offers of help, said his friend would help him - I knew this would happen. He insisted a party/big do would 'distract from the horrific events of last year'! Why he can't accept what mum wants to do I don't know - but as always, he 'knows best' and rides roughshod over other people's feelings and wishes. Anyway after a few texts blasting us for not doing good/right by our mum he swore and said he won't be there! Was very upsetting. Ironically he is estranged from his own family.

Anyway got my bedding dried on the line yesterday, got more washing to peg out and a hutch to clean.

(((Hugs))) Valli. None of it is your fault, nor your mum's, and your b-i-l is obviously still feeling the pain of his loss in a way that won't yet allow him to let other people cope as they feel is right xx

Normally I would; but this is "sustained release" medication, so has to be taken "whole" iyswim. Not to worry; I shall just have to glug more Oramorph (liquid morphine sulphate for what the Dr at the Pain Clinic termed "breakthrough pain") which I can take as needed, within limits. I do try not to take it willy-nilly, but needs must. :o

Wolfy cuddles for BM's dog; it's so confusing for dogs when things start changing, and they don't understand what's going on.

Iona I take your point about "teamwork" but I do feel I'm not doing sufficient these days - Mr LW is taking on the lion's share of the work, and that grieves me terribly; it's not what I married him for. Bless him, he never complains, either. :A

Valli big sour *raspberries* to your BIL. Surely if it's your Mum's birthday, it should be the sort of event she wants? Sorry, but he sounds like he's being very selfish. Yes, he's suffered a great loss, but so has the rest of the family; if he wants a big do for his own birthday, fine, that's up to him, but he shouldn't be deciding for someone else what they would prefer. *gets off soapbox*

Next task: cleaning the bathroom - should be interesting!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • Hugs Valli, your mum should be able to choose what she wants for her birthday and have that respected. Sounds like bil is just lashing out and being arguementitive which ever way your mum had gone he would have gone the other choice.

Lw if it was your Dh suffering with health problems you would without question or complaint do what jobs you could to help him so that is just what he's doing for you. It is an equal partnership and you each do what you can to help the other when your health improves you will be able to do a bit more, do not feel guilty or like you are not worthy you most definitely Are. Even when you aren't able to fly your support is greatly valued on here wether it's cheerleading from the sidelines or lighting appropriate coloured candles for those of us who need one.

Been trying to find disneys colours of the wind for church organ for dd3s wedding - she thinks she's found it.

Taken blanket round next door and seen photos of the gorgeous little boy that their DD had yesterday. Had a ball of pink and blue wool in hand so once I got the news a crocheted edging and heart was added in the right colour.

Going to get on with the ironing now.

Hugs to all who need them.
