Love smoked mackerel ff especially in a pie with mash on top or done in milk with some bread and fresh butter on the side. Love the real stuff not the dyed one. Think I spelled dyed wrongly lol. Actually used to catch mackerel in north east of Scotland when we went on holiday. Father taught me how to fish. Ds now and again brings me fish home from Helensburgh (Faslane) probably nucleor zapped. Does not shine as in a light bulb but could be nucleor. lol. I should not laugh but really when you get to know a few things you can. If I ever thought DS brought me home anything nucleor I would lose the plot with him. Off to watch Ant and Dec in the jungle along with the despots that cannot get an acting or presenting job.

hey, that's a great skill to have being able to fish rose,
DH used to fish years ago before I met him but heard lots
of stories of him & mates enjoyed it,
wouldn't fancy doing it myself though

Thanks ff. Love sitting on a jetty or harbour also love fishing from the beach. Don't do the sea thing. Dad taught me sea fishing but do not like it very much. DS is a bit more adventurous than me. Probably because he is in the Royal Navy and a Submariner and not as frightened by the sea.

    :hello: Good morning everyone

It's a fairly chilly start to the day here but on the bright side
we're set to see the sun (at some point!). soleil07j.gif

I've never been interested in fishing rose but my brother
absolutely loves it & he's been fishing since a young age. He
    also loves sea fishing. :p

I think the Royal engagement between gorgeous Harry and
Meghan is wonderful. Such a perfect match - and
lovely to have a 'feel good' story. :T Love the story behind
the engagement ring too with the 'meaningful placed'
    stones. :A

Talking of comp catch up fire**fly ordi1fun.gif I'd best get on the case
too else I'll end up way behind! :p

Have a lovely and lucky day all and please take care whatever
    you've got planned. :)

Hi Katie. Sorry to hear you have been unwell (hugs) so pleased you are on the up. Sounds as though you had a good weekend. Know you love singing. Great to hear from you.

Sheils so much going on last week I completely forgot to look for a break. mummy2threeboys sounds as though you had a great bargain. Would like to go to Rome again.

We had a great night out last night. Thought of you mummy2threeboys as we waited for bus outside Charing Cross. Strand lights look great. Hope you had a great evening.
We had a lovely pre cinema Meal deal in a Sicilian restaurant. Delicious they had pastas we'd never heard of with special Italian aubergine.

Mountain Stage was a special showing of six films to do with skiing, snowboarding and climbing in different parts of the world. They showed a lot of skill and determination. The last one was exploring in the complete wild in Patagonia. The filming was amazing and to see it on the big screen was amazing. Have to say we were the only older people there. Everyone seemed to be very young and fit.

So another night out thanks to comping. Don't think we have been up to Town so much before Christmas.

Alfie thanks for the pudding links and info. We have a pudding but other deserts as well. So pudding on both days. I've never made one.

Rose great to hear you have been out. Lo to all the cooking.know what you mean about you have to feel like it.

Well I never seem to be catching up with comps these days. Don't know if I'm just slower or what.

Take care everyone. Good luck to everyone popping in to the Inn especially with EOMs lo and advents lurking.

Morning peeps. Another cold one here. Soup is on as well as potatoes for fish pie and cottage pie. Very noisy at the moment as there is scaffolding going up next door as they are going to sand blast the building. Hope everyone is well.

    :hello: Hi fire**fly

    https://www.alex-dalgetty.co.uk/product/scotch-black-bun/

Found a couple of links re black buns but much prefer the one
from alex-dalgetty. Pretty pricey at £10.95 though sounds
absolutely scrumptious! It says large so maybe share
it out amongst family and friends?

It's got fab reviews! In fact the whole site is brilliant! :T
Wonderful produce - I think I'll order a few bits and bobs
    myself. :p

'Traditionally a Hogmany staple, along with a wee dram of Scotch!

However, by popular demand we now make Scotch Black Bun
throughout the year as popularity continues to grow.

It’s the long fermentation process which allows the sultanas and
currants to impart a flavour completely unique to Black Bun.
Topped and tailed with pastry ensures that the moisture of the
fruit bun is retained for a truly unique eating experience.'

Thanks for link Alfie. I didn't know anything about black cake. Looking at site made me feel hungry. Love shortbread.

We we're delighted neighbour knocked on door this afternoon. We had a great catch up. She's doing ok as it's only four months since her husband died. I usually go over to her so was so pleased she came here.

Just found a WEM. I've won a Christmas tree and it'll be delivered too! We have an artificial one in loft but had wondered about a fresh one as we always used to have. Wow.
