This is the Samsung manual for your laptop. If you can borrow a PC to download and print this PDF, you need pages 81 t0 83 inclusive (shows how to remove back covers) then 88 to 100 (shows how to recover Windows.
Thank you for this. I don't have a printer but I do have my tablet which I can view the manual on

New update
My son has been here and things are still strange with this laptop.
As I expected, as soon as I got home from my daughter's house I had the same problems.
My son checked a few things and we changed the wireless channel and also checked how it was working direct from the modem as well as wirelessly. The speed is good, getting over 30.
He then decided to come out of my wi-fi and go onto wi-fi fon, and all of a sudden the problems were gone. Back onto my wi-fi and the problems re-occurred.
However my tablet and his phone work ok with my wi-fi.
He's now gone home totally confused. Facebook is still only working on Opera. It was working for a while on firefox, but it was not stable and kept disconnecting, and now is getting timed out.
I will see what joy tomorrow brings.

Quick fix for this isolated problem - change your WiFi channel, or even turn of FON. Use WiFi Analyzer on your (Android?) to see what channels are in use around you, and use the clearest channel, ideally with one empty channel either side. Channel 12 upwards can cause problems so best avoid those.0 -

Ok, I will try that. I am currently using channel 7 on wifi, but will check my android tablet to check what is around as you have suggested

malware malware malware.
Im very surprised no body yet has suggested that you :-
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/
and then

Run both of those and then report back

as above per AndyPix post.
Then do this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files
but to be fair, the first thing you should have done was to check the date and time on the Computer matches the real world, then when it crashes note down the time it died. even without the time, you should go into eventviewer and check the systems logs0 -

Wifi analyser showed channels 1, 2 and 3 to be the clearest. I have tried 2 but it hasn't made any difference.

1) Create new user account, login, run programs, see if same problems exist.
2) Boot into Safe Mode with Networking, see if same problems exist.
3) Run msconfig, gradually disable Services & Startup items, disable few items at a time, reboot, see if same problems exist.
(Hide Microsoft services, do not disable those)0
