OS Daily, Tuesday 25th September 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 24th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  I am now getting seriously hacked off with not sleeping, this is the third night in a row I have been awake well after 3am. Later this morning I am going to order seditol from Victoria Health.....it worked for me before hopefully it will again.

I was shattered when I went to bed, OH disturbed me getting out of bed to go to the toilet 3 times!!! before he went off to sleep, that was me finished, he is snoring his head off and I am wide awake.

I have come through into the sitting room, brought a pillow and am going to try and sleep on the settee, not much else choice wise as we onlt have the one bedroom. If this continues I am going to have to make up the sofa bed each night and sleep in the sitting room.

A big shop from Tesco later this morning, should just break the £50 barrier and get the voucher for fuel, I cannot get much in the freezer just now, its full of blackberries and beans!!!! THank god you can store cabbage in the fridge!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

The nights are getting chilly, but as yet we have not had to turn up the heat. We have a thermostat in the living room which controls the heat throughout the apartment, there are two rads in the sitting room, but as we have our table in front of one of them, that one is turned off, we will see later in the winter if the one is going to be sufficient.

Right I am going to make myself a cuppa and read for a while, then see if I can get some sleep......see y'all later.

    Goodmorning Csarina & everyone else,

Sorry you are having sleeping problems again. I hope you can get a little bit more sleep before you start the day. It's lunch time here so just having a surf while eating it. My online shop arrived this morning so been putting that away and making up my menu plan and list. I'm going to browse the shopping centre tomorrow and will get the cold/fruit&veg as our online shop only sells dry ingredients.

The council blokes are outside surveying the road today. One's even got his shirt off. Trust me, that sight isn't for the faint hearted. :D Hope you all have a great Tuesday. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning csarina and Aussie, and all those still peacefully snoozing...

Hope you manage to get a few hours' sleep, csarina, it's awful when you go through those periods of sleeplessness. Glad you're enjoying the view, Aussie ;) , chap across the road to me is having an en suite bathroom added to his bedroom which means even more endless parades of his not-very-pretty body in front of the new window I expect  - think uglynakedman from Friends....

Well today is my DS 21st birthday - and he's 200 miles away at uni so I can't give him a birthday hug:sad: He's such a lovely person now, I really miss him when he's away but I know that he will be celebrating in style.

Made gallons of green tomato chutney yesterday, along with honey and sunflower seed rolls and lots of roast vegetables for the freezer so feeling very virtuous. Still have two bowls of green tomatoes left though, so will be Googling for more recipes in a mo, not sure how much chutney one person can take :rotfl:

Having read the 'how dirty is your fridge' thread, I will be giving mine a birthday swipe today before planning next week's menus. I think I have at least six half opened tubs of soft cheese in there:o

Right, off to make more tea. Hugs to all!

Good Morning Csarina, AussieLass and Mrs Flittersnoop and all who follow!
Csarina, I hope you get your sleep pattern sorted swiftly. Been there recently, but seems to have evened out again for me.
As for you other two, all this talk of naked men at this hour is just too much for me!
Mrs F you were certainly busy yesterday. Ashamed to say we still have several jars of tomato chutney from three years ago - it set rather too well and we just keep it in the larder to admire!
Am determined to curb my computer habit a bit - it just gets switched on as soon as I'm home each evening and stays on - too zonked to switch it off and do something useful! Need to make Peter Rabbit quilt for DGS' 1st birthday in November, so perhaps this evening is the one to get started. Seems like I switch on first thing too - but school ensures I move on!
Hope people have a good day and enjoy any celebrations that may be happeniing. As ever, (((HUGS))) to all who need one too.

Morning. I could not sleep very well either. Had a late coffee I think. I think they recon you should not drink coffee after a certain time.

My days off are not being very productive thanks to the weather. The heavy showers make painting a non-starter, so I decided to attack the garden a bit. But even that is now getting soggy. I really wanted to paint the windows...

TV repair man is coming today to fix my Lidl TV. At least it had a 3 year guarantee, so with 2 months to go, I got lucky. I thought it would be an excuse to get me a new flat screen LCD, but with a holiday coming up... no chance.

I dug my potatoes and pulled the onions yesterday, they were pretty poor thanks to the awful summer.

Well folks have a nice day.

    Morning All

Making a strong effort to get back on here every day again. Work has been so unbelievably busy lately. They're putting even more pressure on me, despite me recently having been off with stress caused through WORK! My colleague's throwing her weight around like no one's business. I feel ready to walk out the door and not come back again. I'm so tired, I've only had one day off in the last 2 weeks and I don't get a day off for another two. I'm owed a day in lieu, but my lovely colleague has booked a freelancer so she can have the day swanning around the office, pretending to be doing admin. She's just had a whole week's holiday. I've not had holiday since April and have 3 weeks to use before the end of the year:mad:

Sorry rant over, but this place really gets me.

Brough cous cous with peppers in for my lunch today. Made it last night. Tescos own cous cous with value peppers, so nice and cheap. Received a cheque from the building society the other day due to a take over:T That's going in the ISA, or maybe a fixed bond. Got to weigh it up and make a decision.

No word on my flat yet, just waiting on those searches still. Can't wait to get in there.

Got to start getting some sponsors ready for my charity fire walk - across hot coals! Doing it Halloween. Should be an experience!

Must try to get my tyres done on the car today - £25/tyre including balancing and everything else! Not bad I thought.

csarina Have you tried camomile tea? I have camolie and spiced apple every night and it really helps me sleep. And I have a lot of trouble nodding off.

    Hope everyone's ok

I'm off to work in a few minutes. WM & DD are both chugging away, hubby will hang the washing out later if it's dry.
I made £10 taking up 2 pairs of trousers, & £10 making up some lavender bags, every little helps.
Hugs to PP & JackieO, hope you both feel better soon. Hugs to anyone else in need.
