Would you get a tattoo?

Arlette thank you this is just about the most accurate and honest post I've seen on this topic. Tats are TRAMP STAMPS nothing more, nothing less
Unless of course they are Slag Tags!;)
The place to see the worst examples is the local Asda. During the 'tattoo season' the chav women off the council estate squeeze their huge frames into awful strappy tops so that the ones on the arms, shoulders and boobs are displayed in all their smudged and distorted glory. The tramp stamps appear as they bend down to get the cheap lager off the bottom shelves.:o
I have never seen a tattoo improve a woman. They always look cheap and trashy, but it seems to be a sort of identification marker for the lower classes these days. I find it amusing, but it doesn't bother me that much as I don't move in the same social circles as these people. I have said before, though, that I would not employ a tattooed person in my business as it would look quite unsuitable. I am certain I am not missing much!;)0 -
I have to agree that some females blindly follow the herd in whatever the latest fashion fad creates, but imo this post is aimed at a totally different social group.
We are talking about a different age group to begin with, & obviously folk who have really researched the pros & cons.
I do object to being lumped in with the lowest common denominator, simply through ONE event in my life! People assume all sorts of falsehoods based on a single facet of what they percieve my life to be.

Spot on again Mr S - they normally sport the exposed distended belly and are dragging a clutch of ugly misbehaving kids with them. The trolly will be overflowing with multiple packs of the cheapest and unhealthiest food allowing them more money to spend on fags and alcopops. A sure sign of their inbreeding is the way they can't resist eating and drinking items before they have paid for them. Urban proles......:mad:0 -
Erm... Im not going to go into whether you should or shouldnt have one done, thats entirely up to you... BUT, I have to say, make sure you REALLY really want it before you go ahead. I had two done when i was in my late teens, which i grew to absolutly despise. I had very very expensive and painful laser surgery to remove them both, and ive still got scars on my ankles.
If you want it, have it, but please please please be 100% sure before you take the plunge. You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....
*I have done reading too*

I say go for it. You are not a kid and know your own mind. Over 50 shouldn't mean curl up and die or be boring.
I am a normal 52 year old and have just had my eyebrow pierced (lengthways) and am thinking of a small tattoo of a unicorn. I am doing this for myself, and my daughter no longer wants her eyebrow pierced , doesn't want to copy mum!!0 -

This description and that of Mr. S is about as far removed from me as you could possibly imagine.

I always wanted a tattoo on the base of my spine, but never did it. I agree that it is a very personal choice, Ive seen really, really excellent artwork and also dreadful ones. I agree its an artform and a way of expressing your self, however I think its a shame lots of very beautiful/young girls have such horrible large tattoos just beacause its "trendy" or because some star has one.
I now wouldent have one as i dont feel the need to, my oh has one which he dosent regret as its a reminder of a very happy time in his life, but he really wouldent want me to have one.
If youve thought about it long and hard then go for it, its your body and no-one elses business what you have done. With regard to women looking "cheap" as someones said then that says more about the observer than the tattoo.

Many thanks to all who replied (with one or two exceptions, which weren't at all helpful- you know who you are  ).
I've come this far through life without the need to "express myself" with body art and I've never been a keen following of fads and fashions, so I don't think I'll bother.
I was brought up to believe all actions had consequences and have always lived by that.
In respect to others though, it IS purely a matter of choice. A lot of people DO get them for a spiritual reason, some have them to be fashionable and later regret their actions.
Some tattoos will be more tasteful than others......:wave:0 -
Hi, you go for it!!!
Don't listen to people that say "not at your age", they used to say that about your age range going to the gym and now you see them in the millions.
I've heard many a time people say "but think what a mess it will look when you're old". The fact is, you can always have it touched up later anyway. It's your skin that is the problem then, you don't see 80 year olds walking round half naked on the beach. It's not the tattoo thats done that, it's called getting older!!!
If you want it, do it, you're only here once!!!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
