BMF I have caught him out allready passing of mini surveys as peer reviewd research. He likes being smug in my opinion. Sorry I was brusk or even rude in the post above. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Yes of course medics use tattoo machines to paint in a nipple for breast reconstruction but are they likely to use the yellow dye that mayl break down under UVB into carcenogenic compounds?
How many women with reconstructed breasts will be likely to display them by going topless in the sunshine for long periods? Not many I suspect.
Thinking of surgery and tattoos reminds me of the heart operation patient who had I love Women tattooed over his heart but wanted to sue the hospital when he recovered from the operation and found the tattoo now read " I love men"
But on a more serious note it would be galling to find you needed skin for a graft for facial/breast reconstruction and the most accessible donor areas had tattoos scribbled all over them.
Those who still want a tatto may care to search for "Erasible Tattoo" inks it will still need laser surgery to remove but they will be harmless and not cause the problems associated with normal laser tattoo removal surgery.
I would have thought that the sheer number of UK laser tattoo removal companies was an indication this wasn't a thread for a money saving website. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Someone said there are lies, damn lies and statistics - I think you could substitute surveys for statistics. I know that there are health risks associated with getting a tattoo but then again there seem to be health risks associated with almost everything people do these days. For the record I got my tattoo over 10 years ago. I am not a chav, nor am I a single mother (not that theres anything wrong with being a single mother). I am a professional, have worked all my adult life, have a degree and own my own home. I am still happy with my tattoo today and have no regrets about getting it. If the OP has weighed up the risks and is sure that she really wants a tattoo then she should go for it - if not then she shouldn't.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

No offence taken Douggie...I have a terrible habit of assuming that, because I know what it is I'm trying to say, other people will too! And it comes out all wrong...strange that!

Well said Skintlass.
There are risks associated with everything. As long as you know those risks, it's your personal choice.
There are far bigger health issues contributing to peoples problems which really need sorting.
You take chances everyday with your health in the modern environment which are far greater.
You're right when it comes to statistics. When you research a lot of products you always find so many "for's" and so many "against" trials produced by lots of people with the same letters after their name.
Just make an informed decision.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
The regret-free tattoo could be just around the corner
Inks trapped inside polymer beads could mean that painful removals will be a thing of the past
Freedom2- Conventional inks may contain toxic and carcinogenic materials such as heavy metals and organic dyes hazardous to human health.
- People with professional tattoos are 9 times more likely to contract Hepatitis C.
- Allergic reactions from undisclosed pigments are common.
- The removal of today’s tattoo is far from ideal. Attempted removal, may in fact, create carcinogenic compounds which are stored in the lymph nodes for the lifetime of the consumer and in most instances the tattoo will never be permanently removed.

Why not have a temp tattoo done in the design of your choice and wear it for a fortnight first? Most pro face painters can do this for you if you do a google for a local one. Temp tats have become very popular too.
Sure you'd have to pay for the temp one, but the permanent one will cost you in terms of angst if not money if you were to change your mind down the road. I really think tattoo parlours SHOULD offer a temporary tat service to customers and tbh I can't see why they don't unless they KNOW lots of peeps would change their minds?
It'd give you a chance to test drive it before being marked for life. You might even decide you wanted it in a different place or an adaptation to the design or colours before having the permanent one done properly.
If you want to have a go yourself at doing a temporary trial run first try http://www.jaguatattoos.co.uk, http://www.temptu.co.uk or http://www.fornow.co.uk for the temp inks.

Today, temporary henna tattoos drawn on the skin are very fashionable and have become more and more popular. At the same time, allergic reactions following these tattoos has increased worldwide. Actually, henna has a very low allergic potential. In most cases, allergic reactions are caused by the mixtures used by the so-called "artists" which contain not only natural henna but also many chemical coloring agents such as diaminotoluenes and diaminobenzenes. The long duration of skin contact, the high concentrations of sensitizing materials, and the lack of a neutralizing agent dramatically increases the risk of skin sensitization.
There is quite a lot more in the same vein.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
