I dip into your thread from time to time and I am always impressed by your personal organisation, hard work and financial management.
Reading about your current plans to buy a house I wonder if you have considered buying yourself a very nice garden flat instead. I say that because it may enable you to have money left over that could finance an earlier retirement, so you can rest and recover. Just a thought.
If you were to retire say in a year’s time what income could you expect? Is it doable until SP kicks in? I do not know your current age so not sure how long the gap is to your SP date.
Best wishes whatever you decide to do.

    Thanks @[Deleted User]

Unfortunately there are no nice garden flats on the market here although I have been looking for months. I have lived in a flat where I owned part of the freehold and just would not want neighbours above or below me & do not want to pay someone else ground rent and extortionate insurance and service charges.

Unfortunately I cannot afford to retire yet. I plan to Retire at 60 with savings by then of £36000
    Pension Lump sum £13606 &
    pension £377.91 per month.

    Total £49606/7 years = £7086pa plus pension £4534.92 = £11620pa

    Then Age 67 = 7 years later = further company pension £2262 & state pension £9371
    0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

The last direct debit has come out of my account for this month so I have moved money into savings.

This month I have moved £50 to Christmas/ birthdays, £15 to dog food, £55 to isa for house moving, £250 to long term savings & £100 to annual bills/ household account. Balance remaining £45 plus still waiting for £10 from DS for increased gas/ electric. This will cover food & £10 petrol to last to the end of the month. £50 was standing order earlier in the month to 3% account.

    Total savings £10833.16
    Dog food fund £45
    xmas / birthdays £200
    household bills £107
    car £590.58

Very grey this morning and rain is forecast. I will walk the dog later.

I have had an offer accepted on a house 🥳🤗 £251,055. This will be a cash purchase from the sale of my house to DS & his gf.

I have been to estate agents & they have completed ID checks with my original birth certificate and paper driving licence & council tax bill. I will have to get a photo driving licence when I move. I have spoken to my solicitor & managed to find some original documents from 2010 that he needs from my mortgage company. I am so glad I keep nearly all documents as you never know when you will need them.

Put £10 petrol in the car. 171.9 p/l 😳 Took my friend for cup of tea & cake £4.65

I have cancelled all the viewings for tomorrow and I will pop these documents into the solicitor on Monday. I am so relieved I nearly cried tears of joy 🥹
