I don't understand this concept of him being wrong for not hedging brought up that he watches !!!!!! maybe regularly or maybe only occasionally.

Should he also out of the blue bring up the conversatio that he sometimes picks his nose, that he'll make sure not to ever do so in front of her but that if it's a big issue for her he understands that she would want to end the relationship?

If its so normal and fine and unremarkable, I do wonder why it never seems to come up in conversation, they must talk to each other about what they do during their time apart after all.

I bet they've talked about pretty much everything under the sun, but never this thing that he does regularly?

I don't have an issue with !!!!!! in principle, but I would like to know what sort of thing my partner was watching. There's some stuff I would completely approve of and some stuff I find deeply problematic and would be very upset to find a partner watching. '!!!!!!' isn't a catch all or a single type of imagery, it covers a very broad spectrum.

I am sure they did not talk about toothbrushing or bowel movement either. I guess she did not comment on her masturbating either. Or on details of football team transfers (if he is into football). Or her discussing periods pattern or wax brands with her girlfriends
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

The difference is that !!!!!! is something which is still a bit of a social taboo. And guys know that. It's not the same as tooth brushing etc.

That's why they should be open about it from the start.

Would that not be better for the guys too? At least if they're open about it from the beginning, they'll never have to hide it, never have to worry what their wife/partner might think etc.

Eh? Who is talking about hiding? It is your opinion that it is taboo. I would disagree.

It's not just my opinion that it's taboo. Some guys do hide it, as can be seen from this thread with people suggesting that some people just aren't aware their partners are watching it. It seems obvious that there's a certain taboo about it. It's not on regular TV in the evenings and it's not something openly discussed in social situations.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it myself. But I know if I discovered my partner watching it, I'd be horrified, because it would mean he had lied to me.

    Exactly.

If you haven't asked, then its not a lie.

Maybe the fact that a lot of you feel the way you do is why its being kept from you. You're the problem in the relationship.
