    Evening all :)
((Hugs)) to those who need them, especially Ziggy. I am waiting for test results etc and it ain't fun! Yesterday's boiler crisis was averted - plumber rang OH back and told him which buttons to press, and on the third attempt it started working again :T:T:T
    Today I have:
    Dog walks x 2
Walked to post office and back as well, so plenty of exercise today :)
    Posted 1 ebay item
Sold another 1 (it is a bit slow at the moment :()
Helped OH patch the back door - DS's mutt broke the cat / small dog flap so OH took it out, leaving, basically, a big hole in the door  We decided not to replace the flap, as said mutt would break it again, and our little dog doesn't use it, so OH decided to patch it up with a piece of wood. It doesn't look bad, and by the time he has sealed, sanded and painted it, it will look absolutely fine (he is good at wood stuff :)). Pleased, as it is a nice panelled wooden stable door, which would cost the earth to replace
Cleared up loads of sawdust from the kitchen floor and worktops afterwards :(
Planted the Lidls primroses I bought yesterday in the front garden pots, to brighten it up a bit. Added slug pellets and some of Mrs F's patent cat repellent Olbas tea bags :D I don't like using slug pellets, but the blessed molluscs would eat the lot the first night if I didn't - I have tried everyting else :(
Popped into Waitrose while out, bought only the dog poo bags and nice bread flour that were on my list :A
Finished off last week's pumpkin soup for lunch
Made 'French' bread pizzas for supper, using up stale bread and bits from the fridge. There are loads left for weekend lunches, as DS is away for the weekend (taking dog with him :T)
Dusted furniture in lounge, I can no longer write my name in it :rotfl:
Pegged washing on the line, where it blew about a bit before it started pouring with rain and I had to get it in - currently on airer!
Got OH to try the halti thing that I had found on DS's dog when he walked it, as his pulling on the lead was hurting OH's back (huge strong mutt). Worked like a dream apparently, no more pulling :) We take the dogs out separately mostly, as DS's (big) dog pulls more when they are together, and ours (very small) gets nervous and doesn't enjoy his walk :(
Told DS to tidy his room before he went off for the weekend - I don't need his re-emergent teenage self occupying my spare bedroom

Right, better sort out the washing up and make some coffee - washing up water is boiling on the wood stove at the moment :)

Well, I am utterly gob smacked but I found £20 today! And equally amazing is the fact I found £15 only a week ago. Some of you may know I like to look out for the odd penny, but in 2 years of keeping score of my finds I have only ever found two x £5 notes and one £10 note, so to find £35 in a few days is insane.

Oddly on both occasions there were other people around!

The streets of London are indeed paved with gold :rotfl: Lucky to find any money at all here, despite the fact that I walk every day. Must be too many money savers round here :D

I did it! I did it! I did it!

I beat Mr Grabby to the bargains!

I got there at 10 past 7 and moved everything I wanted to one end then stood playing with my phone. At 20 past the assistant came out wit the yellow stickers and started early. Mr Grabby arrived at 7.25pm and I heard him say to nice lady, who had also just arrived, 'only sandwiches left' (I felt a bit bad about nice lady but to be fair that's usually all that's left when I arrive.)

    So I got:

Chunks of honey roast ham 19p
    2 X prawn Mayo sandwiches 19p each
Pack of 6 chicken drumsticks 15p
    Pineapple fingers 27p
2 X packs of finest sliced turkey 25p each
Pack of 2 finest organic chicken breasts 41p
    Small punnet of grapes 10p

    Happy! Happy! Happy!

Hi everyone, I'm half way through my train journey - 1hr to wait at this station... I've got myself a £2 tea and a comfy seat so shouldn't complain.

In a money-saving attempt I brought myself a salad to eat but I ate half and then got a text from dad who is picking me up at the station asking if I'll fancy fish and chips... Oh, go on then :rotfl: #twodinners :rotfl:

I downloaded something off net flix and have a free ebook and free WiFi now so quite a good wee journey... Better than driving up the m6 on a Friday evening  Only cost £18.50 as booked in advance ;)

    Night all

Dawn the streets of London certainly aren't paved with gold, where I work they are mostly paved with other people's vomit, wee and phlegm!

I love a 'for fun' train journey, La E, my favourite was when we got a last minute weekend in Bognor when the kids were smaller and I couldn't get the Friday off work. DH drove down with the kids and I caught the train to meet them there. I treated myself to a first class ticket, a good book and a drink, it was bliss!

More recently I've done the same (minus the first class bit :rotfl:) to meet DH in Lewes.

Ziggy Do you have family who could help with DS if you both did end up having to go in at the same time? Everything crossed that doesn't happen though.

Dawn Glad the boiler is sorted. Sorry you are waiting on tests. How is DS dog behaving now?

Foxgloves well done on your £2,000 car loan overpayment that's amazing! I can't wait to be DF and start on the mortgage! We're big Scandi fans too. I haven't come across Trapped though, guessing not on Netflix?

CCL I haven't heard of Once Upon a Time either, this thread is quite the TV recommendation hot spot today :)

    FVD what a haul!

  • Yay to Mr Grabby man beating and cash finding.

What a day. Busy morning at job no. 1, walked to the pet shop for dog food (as it's cheaper there) then went to Li@l, home to put shopping away, put dw and wm on, gathered up various bits of gibble, emptied and washed out kitchen and bathroom bins and cleaned loos. Sunlight shining through the windows was making the house look a bit neglected.

Then DS rang to say he was feeling poorly and would I get him from work. Collected him, drove to the next town to meet DS2 at the barbers. Barbers was busy (why did I not get him to just ring me when he was done!?) so hung about for ages. Home to throw fish portions and chips in the oven for tea, empty dw and eat.

Then I had to steel myself to do 2 hours work on job no 2 (I am really behind). Just finished that, washing to put over the airer and my day is done.

Oooh, excellent work today moneysavers! :j :j :j

I've had some good things and some not-so-good :o

    * took home made soup, bread and biscuits to work
    * found 20p on the floor so bunged it in the tea kitty as I was going to stick some in there anyway (also spent 60p on some milk for it - bit daft on a Friday afternoon but I did use most of it and there were still folk around when I left)
    * got so fed up in the afternoon I sneaked to the vending machine and spent 90p on a chocolate bar :o First time I've done that all year :o BUT there was a kitkat already in the thing at the bottom! :j :j I ate that too :o :rotfl:
    * cycled to work and back
    * er, we had our first takeaway of the year too - oh dear! :o:o but we did walk to get it (saving the delivery fee and online ordering fee, and getting a bit of fresh air too) so a bit saved at least :o

    It's been a long hard week :o

Curled up under a blanket now, planning on going to bed n a bit and starting next week early tomorrow :o :rotfl:
