Debt Demolisher

Thanks again cherry and everyone.
Feeling upbeat again this morning as all accounts have funds in them and all bills except a couple of small DDs are paid. Grocery shopping done so no more spends for us at the moment. Will be making some small overpayments as we go along too. These little payments keep me motivated even if I pay £5 on something.
DH dropped £1 in the bedroom this morning. It rolled and he never found it. My debt busting instincts kicked in and guess what I found it :T. Straight in the sealed tin it went. Well finders keepers and all that
Must remember to stop trying to fly along on this journey. I keep telling myself slow and steady wins the race but now and again I get my usain bolt shoes on and try to overdo it and whizz along.
Note to self: little and often.

Just popped back to see how the pension lady went , it sounds very sensible to keep on paying it, you will hopefully reap the rewards in years to come.
I love that you use pen and paper , l am the same . Spreadsheets aren't for me , l did look at ynab a few weeks ago but no back to the old ways.
Plus I think we all go through phases of wanting to gallop along , but sure and steady is where I am at. The whole journey to me is reducating yourself and hoping never to be in the same situation again.

Hi CL and thanks again
We've coped this month with the pension payment so it will probably stay as I will need it.
I too tried YNAB a while back. I totally couldn't get my head round it even after watching lots of you tube videos
. I like pen and paper as I can see everything in black and white and I tick off what's been paid and what still needs paying. I find it easier to keep on top of.
I will make sure we NEVER end up in this mess again

Evening all

I've been sprucing up my house today. I've done some painting as I found some paint in the cupboard under the sink. Very :money: I do love the smell of fresh paint. I will be doing some more tomorrow as it's really cheered me up. Just a touch up here and there makes all the difference.
I could've done another room with the amount of paint I got on myself though :rotfl:Emptying my lake with a teaspoon0 -
Evening diary world.
Back to work today
and already I'm shattered.
But ive finished sprucing up the house. I have loads more I want/need to do but am taking it slowly. I feel so much better just doing the small amount I have. I've been de cluttering and chucking lots away. Stuff that DH "May need one day". The fact that he couldn't remember half of it shows he didn't need it in the first place. Charity shops and the local recycling place have benefitted from it all. Nothing was good enough to eBay so out it went. This boosts my mood when I've had a good tidy up and clear out.
The suns been shining so I've had washing out on the line I love it when I can hang washing out
Budget is going well this week as we have a little more money left than usual at this point. Anything left over at the end of the week will go towards an overpayment somewhere.Emptying my lake with a teaspoon0 -
Morning diary world

Chilly weekend here so far back to having laundry drying in the house. Visited the doctor this week due to complete lack of sleep and being wide awake at stupid o'clock every night. Waking up constantly in a mad sweat and generally struggling then to get through the day. Weight gain, miserable, snappy mood, lethargy just generally unwell. I am menopausal and came away with HRT  I feel soooo old
Been weighing up the pros and cons of taking it too. Female relatives have different opinions on it as well. A couple have said that it was the best thing they did. Another said they would be too worried about the side effects etc. I am worried about bone degeneration etc if I don't take it. Anyone have any experience or know of any friends/relatives that have taken it?
So today I have started my serious healthy eating plan and will make sure I exercise in some way every day from now on, even if it's just walking regularly. I have been out for a walk this morning already and MUST continue with it. I'm not one for the gym and want to do it as cheaply as possible. Even free!
Wish me luck

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish - I think the daily walk (or alternative) is a great idea. I didn't go down the HRT route because I'm such a crabby so and so when I have hormones! I just decided to make the transition - but I was also diagnosed with osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis) and take calcium tablets. That said, while a broken bone last year took longer than expected to heal, the doctor reckoned my bones must be okay as I didn't break more!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Thanks cherry
I think it's the bones thing that worries me. A close female relative of mine has ostepereosis and I suppose I've just focused on the horror stories of it
I've never broken a bone and would probably create like a 2 year old if I did and DH reckons I'm a crabby so and so anyway :rotfl:

Hi there, I want to consolidate a loan and credit card balance with my bank into one single (lower interest) debt. If I am able to pay off my loan with my existing credit card, and then pay off the credit card with a balance transfer deal, is that the best option? Versus just getting a low interest loan...?
Thanks in advance,

Hi there and thanks for popping in
I’m not sure of your level of debt but our experience of consolidating is run for the hills. It never worked out for us as we were not disciplined enough not to use credit again. Hence the big hole we’re in.
Since being on dmp our bank Halifax have been excellent and supportive of us and have given us no trouble whatsoever in repaying our huge loans at a much lower rate.
If you ask on the dmp thread many on there will advise you against consolidating as you are not paying any debt off you are just moving it somewhere else.
Sorry if I haven’t answered your question but I personally wouldn’t consolidate. Been there done that
Good luck
