I managed to draw out my small refund :D. Clearly the account is still open and active. Apart from that, nothing exciting happening here.

Plodding, plodding, plodding. I'm an expert plodder now

    Hi violet and thank you.

Although just lately I seem to have more downs that ups ;). I will keep going forward and emptying my lake with my little teaspoon. I wonder how many teaspoons I will get through on this long journey
If it’s anything like the motivated household it will be hundreds as we seem to have a teaspoon thief here. They just disappear. No one ever guilty of course. :rotfl:

    *miserable post alert*

    Morning all

Just felt the need to pop in and get my thoughts down on here.

DH is off work for we are not sure how long. He is under the hospital for investigations and He is unlikely to receive sick pay in line with his employee conditions etc and will most likely need to claim statutory sick pay which is approx £90 per week

I have also just discovered he has taken out a couple of loans with satsuma thinking he was helping  How did I not know

Clearly we can't pay these and now I feel like my lake has just been massively topped up and is currently overflowing. I know the weather has been bad here but come on this is taking the p* ss. 52 steps backwards and a massive stress alert looming.

I, yes I as DH obviously has no clue may have to pop in the bank this morning and ask about stopping the cpa payments that have been set up for the loans. How embarrassing. If I could get away with murder I dread to think where he would be now.

I have been sat here going over and over it all and have ended up here. Unless a miracle comes down from heaven I seriously am at a loss.

Just when things were running along smoothly (ish). Something else pops in to add to my already greying hair. :(.

Please feel free to whizz by as I did mention this was a miserable post

    Hope you all are well

    A very demotivated motivated :(

    Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear this motivated. Try and focus on your husband's health. I know it must be frustrating and feel like it's never ending but you can do this, you have come so far already!
  • Oh no, sorry to hear DH is unwell. Hopefully the investigations get to the bottom of it soon and he starts to recover.

Was your husband able to explain why he thought the loans would help? Was there anything in particular he felt they had to be spent on / to be bought etc? No need to answer here but maybe knowing what lay behind his decision would help to prevent it happening again.

You have come so far and yes the new about statutory sick pay and the new loans is really frustrating from a financial point of view but you can get through this. It is a set back but you have overcome them before and can do so again.
  • Sorry to read about all this, M. I’ve no doubt you will pick yourself up and dust yourself off again as you have done in the past.
You’ve made me reassess my own journey to being debt free and I’m very grateful for that.
  • Oh no so sorry for you M. Hope his health problems are not so serious to keep him off work for too long. Am no help re the loan situation am afraid. Has he spent the money? Would imagine your debts can be on token payments if you contact your creditors with an updated I&E form given the situation.

Can understand you feel like you do, I would be livid. Hope you managed to cancel the cpa yesterday. Is there anyone that can help you on the loans forum?

Hi all and Thankyou all for popping in to check I haven't done myself in or DH for that matter. Your support is lovely and it's nice to know that people really care :o

It been a long couple of days here lots of going round in circles.

Anyway DH's thinking behind it all was to try and overpay a couple of creditors. (Why he though overpaying creditors would make an ounce of difference Heaven only knows) and have a nice evening out to the theatre with a meal and stay over somewhere for us. :(. This upset me and he said he feels I've taken over and not let him in. To be honest I've had to because at the start of the DMP he was still drawing money out unnecessarily and wasn't getting the hang of being on a tight budget.

To be honest I know he is worried about his health, work and wages etc and can sort of see why he wanted to treat us. At least we agreed to definitely look harder at an entertainment budget for us

Where did we end up. The money he has left is being paid in tomorrow and sent straight back to satsuma. If only it were that easy. The interest is just short of double so hey ho we still have more to pay.

I've written letters to them and sent messages on their site explaining the mess and fingers crossed will be setting up a payment plan with them. I have been and posted them and will wait for the outcome.

How I never saw this I'll never know. At one point I checked the accounts every second and got a little obsessed with it so now I tend to keep track of the DDs and SOs and not go too far into it. Lesson learned.

He is on daily blood thinning injections and tablets as the hospital are worried he will have a stroke or Heart attack. He is now worrying that he will die and leave everything to me. I think he may be a little depressed too. We both had to laugh in the end at the fact that if he leaves me, he's just left me in even more debt :rotfl:

Ive been moping around and barely done any housework today so I've picked myself up, had a bath and made a cup of tea and now watching Jane McDonald cruising. What a life she has. I seem to think that a cup of tea is the healer of all healers. You break your leg 'oh I'll put the kettle on'. Your roof blows off 'oh I'll put the kettle on'.

He is going into work in the morning to see about sick pay etc and is hoping to go back next week. Dr allowing.

Sorry for the super long post and I've probably sent you all to sleep but the only thing we can do is deal with it and hopefully don't get any trouble from satsuma. DH has promised not to try and help anymore and make stupid decisions. We've made enough of them together over the years :o

Thank you all again so much :A

    A slightly more calmer motivated.

Oh what a pickle... :( But the important thing is that you haven't bumped him off and have already found a bit of dark humour in it. You will find a way through (and for what it's worth your situation isn't what it would have been if you hadn't been wielding your teaspoon).

I hope your DH's treatment and pay work out okay. Perhaps if he has to stay off he could darn socks or make packed lunches for you or otherwise trim the day to day expenses? Loads of good wishes to both of you.
