Hi motivated- just popping in to say hello- how's it going? We started our DF journeys at the same time just over 2 years ago but I sort of got out of the habit of posting hence this is my 129th post and you're up to nearly 2,500! I'm so impressed we're still both plugging away and haven't given in to temptation (well a bit here and there in my case).
Keep going!0 -
Hi Emma lovely to see you back and doing so well
I'm still plugging yes, slowly but surely. Had a few hiccups along the way but still emptying my lake with a teaspoon. The 2 years has flown by hasn't it?
Waiting for payday Friday and have just discovered that work have automatically opted everyone back in to the pension and have taken £150 this month  I understand that a pension is sort of a necessity but I plan my wages more or less to the penny and now this has ruined my budget. Totally not the end of the world I know but I feel like I've been robbed :rotfl: Apparently we were not allowed to opt out previously and since the wages have been done we can opt out now if we wish in the hope that we get February's contribution back in April  feel quite fed up about it now.
Part of me thinks I should continue with it and the other part is saying you are up to your ears in debt and need the money now.
Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear that motivated.
It is a difficult one as you will need a pension. Do your work contribute?0 -

I'm not even sure although I think they do. I need to speak to someone at work who knows about it all.
I think I'm steering towards leaving it as it is as I will need it. I'm not getting any younger. and this will make me stick with the DMP even closer and budget harder than ever in order to reduce the debt.
I will see what happen on Friday and how my budgets and plans work out now. Then I will take it from there I think.
2 more days then a week off so a bonus there at least :T

Evening all
I just spent at least an hour trawling through all my valentines cards that I received today :rotfl::rotfl:
Ive checked my bank and all DDs are showing as paid. My wages must be sitting there somewhere and just not available yet. Grocery shopping due for delivery tomorrow all within budget, I'm now working out everything else and I think I will be ok as I've jiggled a few figures around to account for the pension deduction. So far so good.
My mood always lifts a bit around payday as I feel like I've made a little difference at least. I checked noddle and my NEDCAB I&E and according to their figures it looks like we've paid off £7,900 so far. It seems such a small amount as I wish it was a lot more
Have to keep reminding myself about the lake and teaspoon.
Last day at work tomorrow then a nice weeks rest

Hi, I don't think I have commented on your diary but I have read along from time to time and you seem very committed to your debt free journey. I am not sure how long it is going to take you to pay off your debt but judging by the amount of your debt in your first post I would imagine it is going to be quite a long journey. If that is the case I think it is important for you to be building in a reasonable amount of money in your budget for you to have a life while you pay off the debt. Living on a very tight budget may be possible for a year or two but sustaining it long term is not easy. Is it possible that your budget is just too tight? And is there any way you can make some extra money or cut back on your payments a little so that you have a bit of free money just to treat yourself from time to time. I also vote for keeping the pension payments. You will be glad of it one day and there is no point in missing out on the tax benefits of paying into a pension. I will keep following your journey. Good luck.0
