Debt Demolisher
Comments

Just checked credit files to see that this year we actually made a dent in the debt to the tune of £2995 and not the £2531 I said previously :T
I miscalculated as usual. I said I was rubbish with numbers as you can tell by our level of debt :rotfl:
Knowing we have paid off a fiver short of £3000 since April when our DMP started its proof that we can do it.
Credit files are due to update again today so will double check figures when they do

Managed to survive the wind and rain and did the food shop. Absolutely freezing out there
Paid weekly bills and juggled finances around accounts. Managed to add some more to my 52 week challenge, although I should’ve called this my add to it whatever day it is account.
Have also started the penny a day challenge, after 365 days I should end up with over £600 by adding the amount of pennies on whatever day I’m on. Again this will be the odd change every week challenge I think. I got myself a money bag and have added the odd change in my purse to it. Will see how it goes.
DH then comes in with a moneybag and says he’s doing it too. He challenged me to a competition. We often have the odd few pennies lying around the house, not any more I bet. Let the penny duel commence :rotfl:

Your poor DH - toothache is horrible. Is there nowhere will take him as an emergency?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi Cherry. He saw an emergency Dentist but because he has infection they wouldn’t touch it. He’s in less pain now which means less miserable. Not that he’s ever miserable (cough)
He has an appointment on the 8th at his regular dentist and we’re looking at band 3 Work which costs £244.30
Will try very hard to get the much needed funds together. It’s going to be very tight for the next couple of months as we also have car tax and insurance due in Feb/March. If all goes to plan we should be ok.

Here's hoping the infection soon clears. Dental work is so expensive, isn't it.
My dentist tried hard to get me to pay nearly £100 a year for their plan but having thought it through in my case and with my history, I'm hanging on to the money and paying as necessary - oh, and brushing assiduously.
Of course that doesn't cover all eventualities: I broke a tooth eating pasta, of all things.
I hope all goes well with getting the money together. Are you doing any extras like surveys to ease your way through? By the way I like your penny challenge! I used to save the pennies my kids left lying around and try to return them to their owners, who weren't bothered, so I saved them all up and bought myself a day out. It's worth doing! Ditto wombling supermarket points.

I do Prolific academic which comes in fits and starts. Sometime I get loads and then it goes quiet again. I have around £10 in there at the moment but if you cash out at £20 you don’t pay a charge. I may look at doing a different survey site too.
A day out on a penny challenge :T it just goes to show that pennies come in handy. My money bag actually has 2ps and 5ps aswell but I’m going to keep adding to it and see where it leads.

Edit: Just logged into PA to an invite to a survey on my page worth £2.00. When I went into it it said you are not eligible for this survey right now :mad:Emptying my lake with a teaspoon0 -
Grrr to the survey! Better luck next timeI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It actually came back on and I was allowed to complete it plus one for 45p. I’m now up to £14 on there :T
Have also been looking at my challenges. One day I might make a decision and stick to it :rotfl:
My sealed pot challenge I don’t want to know how much I have until opening time in November. I may use my rounding down account for something else and actually pot varied amounts in a sealed tin for Christmas
Decisions Decisions

Hi all and an early Happy New Year to each and every one of you
Not doing anything exciting tonight, just TV and a chill out me thinks. I am looking forward to the back of 2017 to be honest. It’s been one hell of a rollercoaster and one hell of a wake up call I can tell you. So I am looking forward to a fresh new year and a new crack at this debt busting malarkey.
Have been looking at finances again (what AGAIN I hear you say) :rotfl:
We have an expensive few months ahead and for a moment earlier I started to wobble a little
But I sat with good old pen an paper and worked out to the penny every DD every SO and every thing that needs paying up until the middle of March.
Car Tax, Car Insurance, DHs Dentist, an a couple of other bits that need paying.
Was thinking of asking DH to delay the Dentist treatment until March but I feel bad and he needs the work doing. Although he is not in any pain now and actually managed a smile or 2 today
I need to know that we have the funds sitting ready and waiting and have been saved for a specific purpose and not just used out of any other money that had been saved.
Wow that actually sounds selfish doesn’t itI’m not selfish but I’m so in the right mindset that I’m scared of undoing the hard work we’ve put in and he needs £244 on the 8th of January  I don’t get paid until the 15th anyway and I had already budgeted my wages to the penny. I started to panic a little this morning. Am I thinking selfishly?
We do have Feb and March council tax free months so that money will really help.
Currently sat here watching Jaws the Revenge as there’s not much else on that takes my fancy.

Progress on the surveys then! It's very difficult about the dental bill, I know you will have looked at all the options you can think of but perhaps someone here can think of something? Is he in a Union or anything that might help? Or does any bank account, CC or similar have insurance attached?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
