I'm another one that keeps talking about the downside of things and feel better because of it - I've also been told to stop! Different coping methods - enjoy your veg planning though!

A friend asked me what topic was talked about before the virus, I had to remind him it was brexit

I know where your son & DH are coming from SL, it terrifies me as both parents are at risk to various degrees, luckily mondays announcement scared the bejesus out of them to finally listen more to what i'd been saying as i'd not dared put the full reality of my concerns into words. Stay safe SL & everyone.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps8 -
The first piece of glass is in the greenhouse frame (hooray) - hopefully if I stop digging out nettles, bindweed, ground elder, hypericum, periwinkle and bl**dy oxalis corniculata - I can give a hand and we can get more done today. The plants don't stop growing just because I am running late.
I did complete the vegetable garden planning yesterday and ordered a replacement bug zapper that I will be using for bottom heat to quick start my tomatoes.
DH has to go out today to the store that shares a wall with Morries - I am hoping for organic milk, yogurt and butter while he is out. On the upside we are not spending much.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Replacement bug zapper ... bottom heat for tomatoes, do tell more!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

My bug zapper is one of those electronic ones like they have on the wall in butcher's shops - only mine sits on the kitchen windowsill, dealing with nasties. We have it on all the time (except if we leave the windows in that semi-locked position as moths can still get in and they immolate themselves at the temple of blue light - sorry), anyway, it gets warm.
So I put a long plastic tray on top with my tomato and chilli seeds in trays or small pots and it makes them germinate in a matter of days. Once they are underway I swap them to the rest of the windowsill and germinate another lot.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Ah, I see. Not really a regular option for tomato starting then, but ingenious!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ooh, I have one of those electronic ones, a little one, because of those episodes of cluster flies I had. So ... can I ask how you use it as a replacement for heat for the tomatoes? I'm thinking yours might be horizontal, and next to the pots of seeds? Mine's vertical (only about 6" tall though) so it still might not be appropriate. Great re-use of the technology though.

Mine is like this - so there is a horizontal surface to put a long thin tray of pots on top - I'm guessing yours might be a lantern style KC? - we also got ours after a plague of flies but I have just bought a replacement (I gave myself a massive electric shock on the previous one (bigger than the one shown) and seem to have blown something important. Can't really get it fixed so bought a smaller replacement).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Sorry, SL, the linkie you gave goes to a general page on home improvements, although I've just noticed it has an amazon address as well. I just input some of that into amazon and got a page list - yes, I can see what you might be referring to - mine's even littler than a lantern on that list, its like a small vase. So no luck for me in that - something to think about for the future though, thanks!
