Went for a little walk with DH after it stopped raining yesterday - definite first hayfever signs (snuffly nose and later wheezing). Actually, the wheezing might have been the rabbits. My neighbour's boy has a Harris Hawk and I mentioned we had some very large rabbits in the garden (regular readers will recall we had a virtual plague of them, living under the large holly tree last year). He came and looked then came back with his ferrets (too enclosed for the hawk) and despatched two huge, and I mean huge, rabbits with their help and some nets. None active this morning (might be the smell of the ferrets deterring them). It was very interesting and please don't distress about the rabbits - they went for food for both humans and ferrets. The joys of country living.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hello SL, just catching up on your diary. I'm very sorry to read about your MiL, especially with dementia involved. Is there a funeral service, or simply a memorial service later on?That said, I kind of chuckled to myself about the rabbits: I'm a long term vegetarian, but several online friends are hunting/shooting types, or keep rabbits for meat.Hope you can carry on avoiding Covid - now I'm home, I'm well into lockdown, even though I avoided my sister's cold last year even when sharing a cabin with her, I regard myself as fairly vulnerable because of previous chronic fatigue, so I won't be seeing many people face to face at all.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

It's really good to hear from you KC, I hope you had a wonderful trip and were not too restricted in what you could do (I will read your diary in a minute) - there were lots of comments and I kept reading but did not chip in. We are finding an occasional walk with chatting from 2m apart is working for us, with a couple of extras on our dog walk. There is lots of support here but not very dedicated adherence to guidance at the moment.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Yep, all good here - most people I'm in contact with are doing social distancing, but some aren't, and very few on the street are, though I notice some changes. I want to do a bit of exercise today - I was doing a lot of pottering yesterday, affected my sleep a little - we all need good sleep!

Yesterday DH spent most of the afternoon assembling the roof for my greenhouse - it is much harder with no usable instructions - I only intervened once to help as my fingers are smaller and more dextrous. I was out there for much of the time though, digging veg beds over and removing pesky weeds. I also got in one or two beds to pull out periwinkle and nettles that were priming themselves for their annual invasion. It was bitterly cold outside despite the weather forecast predicting 6-7c the easterly wind chill was more like 3c and it was bitingly cold.
After all the chilling down, I made cheesy leeks and potatoes and rang the local pub and went down with our 4-pint take-away jug for draught bright beer. He did not want to be paid as he said it would just go off. I insisted though, I said I wanted to be able to ask again. It is a lovey friendly place. Completely locked down.
In other news my Mum contacted me to say the delivery I promised for yesterday did not come. I would have preferred a cancellation from the supplier (sorry, in the current circumstances we can no longer do this for Mothering Sunday) but they told me it was despatched on Thursday. I am expecting a dead or dying delivery next week at some stage. I suppose she knows I thought of it but still disappointing.
DH and I set up some different video calling options - just need to write a small tutorial for others to follow - hoping for virtual book club early next month.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

The wind was definitely very chilly yesterday. Our garden is quite protected but we went for a walk in the afternoon and we were very glad to have wrapped up warm!
Such a pity about the flowers - especially at the moment when it’s all you can do! 😔Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I know, I was all for complaining last night but this morning it is more disappointment. I need to put it in perspective when people are not able to get food delivered. As I say, I would have been happier if they had cancelled it. I plan a little walk this morning, just so we stretch our legs a bit and get some fresh air. I understand my friend (who has rheumatoid arthritis) is due to fly home (early) from his cycling trip in Vietnam. He has been there since the end of January. I am fretting a bit that he has supplies and takes it seriously. We are fifty miles away but I have other friends, not at risk in that location. I will wait.
