Keeping a spending diary is definitely helping me remain focussed so I do recommend it. (Well it is, although my spends on food still haven't reduced but in 9other areas yes it is definitely helping!)
Well done also on taking a packed lunch, that will definitely pay off the longer you do it.
Have you tried selling your child's clothes &toys that they have grown out of? Unless of course, you plan to have another.
Good luck, I'll be following along!
HelloYes, I do sell things that he has outgrown but I do keep the really nice things in case that we are blessed with another. Fingers crossed that we are!
I used to be really good at keeping a spending diary - I still have a lot of my old ones upstairs. I am just getting back into keeping one after keeping my eye off the ball for a while.0 -
Well, there is nothing that can make you sober up to money saving quickly than a 'rather serious' staff meeting where phrases like 'cutbacks' and 'losses' and 'restructuring' were thrown about like confetti. Nice! Our jobs are all safe for at least 12 months but after that? who knows? Scary! We all came away feeling rather unsettled. I have no idea what will happen in the future. I just know that I need to focus on the here and now.
I have not bought my lunch at all this week. This is bl00dy good for me! I did end up nipping into the supermarket on the way home tonight as I needed a few bits for work (work paid for it) and because my meeting was very long and I had a chat with a colleague afterwards, I ended up spending £2.50 on a frozen pizza for tea as I needed to whip something up quickly. We had that with some garlic bread and a salad. T'was rather nice indeedy
Two more get ups until I am off work for a week. Nine days until payday. If I can manage it, then this month is my second month on the trot in which I have saved one thousand pounds.0 -
Well done on eating nice food and also staying positive and for saving so much. Really impressive.
Jobwise it seems to be like this for many of us - I hope it works out for you. The good bit you can control is that you are saving so you are insulated more than others.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

ThanksWe are living in difficult times. The thing is, we have a lot of support staff ...possibly too many. I have no idea what will happen but I have at least 12 months to think of a plan.

The mood at work is AWFUL!!!! I am so glad that I am off for a week after tomorrow. Last night, I rejigged my bank accounts and I now have two accounts operating with a higher rate of interest and, this morning, I listed an item on eb@y. Today was also an NSD - the first in ages!
Just had an fb sale - brill!0 -
Well done on sale. Sorry about work we have had this climate at my work for years. It's horrid. Continue to sell and have NSDs, it is empowering.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Happy holiday week snozberry, especially with all that going on at work! My company went bust, slowly, over the Christmas period. "Sobering" is the right word for it. But at least you know you're safe for at least a year and, although horrible, this kind of thing really does make you focus on how to improve your financial security. Think of all the people at your work who are in debt!
Anyway, have a great week - who knows, you might find money under the furniture with all your cleaning and tidying! :rotfl:0
