Valentine's day

Options
Ok so normally I don't care about Valentine's day at all but hey, I'm currently smitten so I want to make a wee fuss of him.

I'm thinking of doing a bit of arts & crafts (It's a bit cheesy but like I said, I'm smitten)

What do you all have planned for Valentine's day?

Nothing. It's a day which has become taken over by commerce! Don't want to add to rubbish around the place.

I remember the times in my teens and 20s I'd sit in a restaurant with all the other couples... nah, not any more. Might mark it with a takeaway or a nice cooked meal, and will buy a card, but have no intention of going out.

Are you going to make him a nice card? Why don't you cook him dinner too :)

Given the choice I'd go with dinner at home, dvd and few drinks.
  • Not for Valentine's, but to mark a year of us being together, I made a little book for my boyfriend. This is going back nine years now, when those touchy-feely 'That's Not My....(Tiger/ Robot/ Dog etc)' toddler books were everywhere. I was doing work experience in a nursery at the time, so he had bought some of them to take in with me.

I made a 'That's Not My Boyfriend' book for him, thinking of all the qualities I loved about him and drawing/making the opposite. For example, he's 6'4, so I had a page saying 'That's not my boyfriend, he's not very tall' with a drawing of a small man next to a tape measure I'd cut up.

It's quite twee, but he loved it. :)

Valentines day is on a Tuesday this year so we'll probably go out for a meal the weekend before. I think it's a good excuse to treat yourself to some fancy food just when winters at it's coldest and bleakest.
Last year we went to see Deadpool :D

I was thinking of making this:

    http://www.instructables.com/id/52-Things-I-Love-About-You-Card/

I was considering making a card but I've found a few cards online I quite like (Although £3.45 for a card?!) I found a few really nice Christmas cards in Card Factory so I might even pop in there for the card.

I work Monday-Friday 9-5, and he lives 40 miles away (so doesn't give us much time to do anything on a Tuesday night) so we're thinking of putting off Valentine's day until the following weekend. Then it'll probably just be our usual of lazing about, watching films & eating junk (so romantic!)

We don't really do valentine's much, other than cards and the occasional silly present (things like mugs), although we did go away for the weekend the first year, but we were students in a long distance relationship and I hated having to stay in his single bed when I went to visit him! We also had one year we happened to be on holiday so went out then. I have made him a cake before- always a good option :) i might do that again this year, as it also suits my pregnancy greediness

Wait until the 15th and then buy up all the half-price chocolates? :D
