My husband is not romantic. He bought me fish and chips in Ikea yesterday and that's good enough for me. As for what I do for him, he doesn't even know its Valentine's Day.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hmmm..
Looming work deadline vs Valentine card.
Well, the looming work deadline took priority.:(
I haven't had a chance to make or buy a card.
However, I came clean to Mrs G and she has helpfully left a pile of cards from previous years out so that I can recycle one.
Now I know why I married her.0 -
I got my daughters a teddy and bag of chocolate buttons from Thorntons each and made them a special breakfast before school. They'd been talking about Valentines for weeks and it was absolutely worth it to see their faces.
My OH and I are in a fairly new Long Distance relationship and not overly 'smooshy' He sent me a funny card and a gift he's thought a lot about which I absolutely love.
I sent him a funny card and a care package of craft beers, snacks and a couple of photos I got printed of us pulling stupid faces.
Suited us to the ground, I loved putting the care package together so I'll probably do another one in a couple of months.0 -
I got my Fiance a moonpig card seeing as it is our first one as an engaged couple. There are no cards for men with Fiance on that don't go over the top so I made him one on moonpig with some pics of us from our travels over the past year and inside said "I really love our little life, thanks for asking me to be your wife" Got up a bit earlier than normal and made him a cup of tea before work.As a prezzy I got him his fave pack of biscuits that only cost £1 and gave him some love cheques with silly things on them. He was a happy man.
He got me a card, a pack of those special packs of malteaser sweets from celebrations box (i love them!) and was going to cook me dinner (a lot more than I expected) but his grandad got taken in to hospital yesterday so we spent the evening up there. The dinner will happen another time. Neither of us spent more than £5 on each other. It's a bit of fun, I would never want to be taken out for dinner or away on Valentine's Day, that seems a bit too much. I would much rather a random date night at another time of year or that he spends more time, money and effort making our anniversary special instead.0 -

Seriously, that sounds lovely, you've both been thoughtful with cards and gifts without being extravagant..
I can't really get my head round spending a fortune on flowers for VD.
Maybe it's because my Mum drummed it into me as a child not to buy her flowers on Mother's Day as they'd be cheaper the following week.
A friend of mine is in a fairly new relationship and they made a bit of a fuss of each other which I think is lovely.
Hope his Grandad is OK.0 -
I sent my boyfriend a chocolate gift set from letterboxgiftshop.com. More because he's had a tough time lately and I wanted to do a little something to make him smile. It needed to be something that would fit through the letterbox as I knew he wouldn't be in all day.
As an aside, I have Amazon prime. I can't believe they don't offer letterbox friendly delivery on their smaller items. Think they might be missing a trick here.
Not that I mind at all really but I got a text from him yesterday morning asking my exact address.... Which I thought was hilarious.0 -
Told my fella he is lucky that I detest St Vomits Day and he didn't have to queue up with all the other sheep to buy a bunch of scentless, dried-up roses for £25.They are an EYESORES!!!!0

Every year my husband cooks the same meal and I decorate the table with tat we have accumulated over the years. Red heart shaped everything, glasses, lights, confetti and the like. It's so cheesy and we have done this for over 25 years apart from one year we decided not to bother and we both missed it :rotfl:
Most of the people I work with had a meal deal last night, they all seemed to mark the day in some way.The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0
