The stopper was stuck so I did what I normally do to undo it and pushed a skewer through the hole in the stopper to use as a lever and there was a ping.....and the bit with the hole in was hanging on the skewer and the stopper was still stuck.....swizz!!!
Its been freezing today but I don't think I'll need the bottle this evening. I left the heating on all day and set the thermostat to 15 degrees and it feels very warm now. Very weird, thougt I'd need to jack it up a bit when I got in this evening.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have a poorly heated flat, and I always use a hot water bottle at night, Keeps the bed lovely and warm.0

I always have a spare one on the off chance that He Who Knows is cold enough to want one as well, he doesn't feel the cold like I do so I'll use his tonight and get a replacement for the broken pone next time I'm in town!0

Phew that's a relief.
As a lady who posts on The Prepping Thread, I'd have been shocked if you didn't have a spare MrsLW'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

We bought our cute little cottage especially because it doesn't have central heating and is warmed by the fireplace, which if it's not on which is around half the time because of work and such like means the house isn't warm.
Hot water bottles are a life saver for us, I cannot count how many of them I own, it's quiet a lot and I love spinning up the wool to knit a new covereven the dog has one!
If it gets really cold the other half will go to bed with socks on and at the moment we do have two quilts, a bottom sheet and a brushed fleece blanket on the bed.
Oh and if it helps we are actually really ok with the cold, we tend to go camping in Wales in March (going again this year) and the last time it snowed on us!!!!Little Frugal Cottage x

Well we got our camping HWBs out to test last night and they worked really well. I read a few years ago that a TSP of glycerine in each the first time they are used makes the bottle last longer so have done that.
Mine even felt warm this morning because it was sharing my heat all night.
Hub's bottle was cold though. his was wrapped in a t shirt and mine was in a knitted cover so I will knit him a cover for his too as maybe that helped preserve the warmth.0 -
He Who Knows is such a clever chap, he found a trade name on our hot water bottles, contacted the manufacturer on the phone and apparently they do a pack of 2 x replacement stoppers for under £2. Complication is we can't buy direct from then as they only supply retailers but the good news is they took the trouble to find our nearest stockist for us which is a hardware shop in the nearest shopping precinct and we can get them to order a new stopper in to the shop for us. RESULT!!!
He drove up to the hardware shop after lunch and they actually had some replacement stoppers in already so he got us 2 for £2.99p slightly more than cost from the manufacturer but you'd expect that, the shop isn't there for altruism!!! so I now have 2 functioning hot water bottles and a spare stopper if we break another one any time!!!0
