HWB at my feet on very cold nights can't sleep if I have cold feet, wheat pack wrapped around my lower back except in really warm weather love them both. Don't like a warm bedroom but hate being cold in bed find I'm too warm with an electric blanket

I have them but use them "medicinally". Any tummy ache, backache, stiff neck, period pain and out comes the hot water bottle. Nothing works better I find, not even pills.
  • I had a hot water bottle on my lap yesterday when I was sitting down in my living room reading. It was freezing and icy outside, but that really warmed me up quickly. The HWB with socks and a hot drink.

I love a HWB and my youngest DGD bought me a new one for Christmas this year as my old one the washer on the stopper was starting to go and now and again it wouldn't tighten enough.Wouldn't be without mine and will fill it during the evening and have to keep my feet warm when watching TV as I have poor circulation

Helpful tip, courtesy of my mother - who caused endless amusement when she packed to go on holiday. She always took a hot water bottle, no matter where she was going. In the tropics she would fill it with cold water, and it would keep her cool all night long. Very wise, that woman.

What a great idea, your mother was indeed very wise.

    Thanks for the tip :)

I've never been without them. I gave all my kids them one year at xmas. Currently using one in my side of the bed, one in his side, and one in the cat's igloo :D
  • Wonderful things hot water bottles, I only use one but pop it into the bed where my bumski goes as I go to the bathroom for a wash and to get undressed and then when I get into bed I pop it down to foot level and have that blissful moment when I sit down on heavenly warm bedding and push my feet to the heavenly warm bottle. It keeps me toasty all night and is still warm enough to feel 'warm' in the morning when I wake up. There is an electric blanket on the bed in the spare room for when the girls come to visit but I much prefer the hot water bottle that I can 'cuddle' when I wake up in the wee small hours and get back off to sleep again.
  • I love a hot water bottle. I usually only need one as I wear woolly socks in bed if it's cold. I sometimes make one during the day if I'm going to be sitting on the sofa as I find I get cold if I stop moving about.

  • I have no OH...nor do I have a pet.....so I need all the assistance I can get for snuggly warmth!

I cannot use a traditional water bottle....filling one is too dangerous for me (severe dyspraxia)....so I have the wheat filled microwavable bags. Two of them.

I have a thick snugglesome duvet but still like a bag.....firstly to warm the bed...and then to tuck into the small of my back when I get in to bed.

I also use them during the day...I sometimes get really bad lumbago, and there is NOTHING like a nice warm bag tucked against the bag whilst I am in my chair.
