On very cold nights I will occasionally pop a hot water bottle in the bed to warm it. Once we are in and warm it stays warm, I don't have the heating on overnight ever. If my feet get cold I do find it really hard to get warm.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

I love a hwb I have one most evenings, once all the chores such as making tea, preparation for the following day, dishwasher done, we settle down to watch TV, with a cup of tea and I have a fluffy covered hwb I stretch out on the sofa with the hwb, usually behind me.
I don't very often take it to bed unless I am poorly.0 -
Helpful tip, courtesy of my mother - who caused endless amusement when she packed to go on holiday. She always took a hot water bottle, no matter where she was going. In the tropics she would fill it with cold water, and it would keep her cool all night long. Very wise, that woman. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

I have hot water bottles, but I tend to find I don't need them.
When it's cold enough to need them the cats are much more affectionate and do the job without the risk of them falling out of position in the night - only trouble is that it's then very hard to get up in the morning. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I have one that goes in bed with my grandchildren. I don't use one as I'm always too hot. I'm still using a 4tog duvet and it's minus 3.Chin up, Titus out.0

Oh absolutely. I hate having cold feet in bed and a HWB is perfect for warming your feet on.
Even so I often keep a pair of cosy, warm socks on. I hate wearing anything in bed but socks are essential most nights during winter, though often discarded once I've warmed up.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

I travel a lot and stay in hotels during the week and always pack my hot water bottle. I've had to phone a few and ask for it back after I've gone away home and left it in the bed.0

My son has two, and I just put on socks as well as pjs at bedtime. My OH sleeps naked, he is a warm-blooded creature so some of his heat radiates which is useful.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
