I've just realised I made it with white flour (I was trying to cook a meal and empty the dishwasher all at the same time!!).
Very nice, not powerfully sweet like some cakes.:wave:0 -

chop up, simmer in fruit juice with your other chopped dried fruit + cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves, blitz and you have a sauce for cake, icecream, yogurt.......0

I bought about 200g worth of dates in the reduced section of Tescos the other day, because i'd never tried them, and they're veyr rich in fibre. I dont actually like them though!
I was thinking about baking them in a cake I saw on cook yourself thin, but realised that to make the cake (i'm not a big baker), i would need to buy brazil nuts, pecans, parsnips, buckwheat flour, vanilla, treacle, bicarb of soda and baking powder. i dont bake often so it seems like a waste to buy a load of things that i might not use again just to use up 70p worth of dates but on the other hand, i hate waste.
any other suggestions? i really dont like fruit in currys bt the way, if that helps. I hope your more imaginative than me!Thank you!....I'd rather have two minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special....0 -
Hi,
I would make a date and walnut cake, so providing you have flour , marg sugar and eggs all you have to buy is the walnuts
