There's a recipe in the Jeannette Orrey Dinner Lady book for a really nice date slice - basically just cook the dates with water and orange peel until they're soft and jammy, make a basic oat-based crumble, press half into a brownie tray, add the dates, then another layer of crumble. Bake in a hot oven until cooked, cool and slice. Yum!2015 comp wins - £370.25

You could chop them up and put them through boiled rice with a pinch of saffron. Served with lemon or lime grilled chicken this is lovely.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Make your own museli.
Buy some organic jumbo oats mix them with some mixed nuts, sultanas, chopped dates, chopped apricot, some flax seeds and sunflower seeds and eat it with low fat yoghurt.

I love dates in my porridge.0

I ususally eat dates for snacks. My friend once made dates parcel using filo pastry. Fill small sheets of filo with mashed dates and wrap like a parcel, stick with milk and bake or deep fry.0

You could always chop some and add them to a basic ginger cake recipe, which is very nice (never lasts long in our house!). Or even just eat them. In fact I've been eating dates while sitting at the computer this evening. Yummy!0
