Weekly Flylady Thread 24th September 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Ok here goes this week!
This week we are having an Deep Cleaning challenge.. dislodge those spiders.. chase out those bugs and degrot the grotty spaces. This is time-consuming.. so if you can't manage it, it doesn't matter.. but flying just keeps things ticking over and sometimes a better scrubbing is needed..let's see how this goes!

As a weekend list I thought a list of 10 tasks to spread over the 2 days.. there is always a 'catch-up' of the jobs you missed during the week, but it might be interesting to add a 'fixing' task and maybe a bigger declutter??

what kind of things should be added??

    I'd love weekend tasks too

I don't mind what they are, just a glutton for punishment!

How about - sort out your airing/linen cupboard - I know mine could do with everything being refolded as it's all tumbling over at the mo.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thanks Pigpen but no weekend tasks for me. I am usually playing catch up and if not can certainly find jobs to fill my own time should the mood take me. I find the constant stream of footie kit to wash 4 matches most weekends and the footprints through the kitchen enough TBH without all the extra food that needs preparing.

Pigpen thanks for stepping in again for me, fingers crossed we'll hear about the house tomorrow, but they did say Saturday and they said the Monday before that so we'll see, not counting on anything or waiting in for phone to ring, they have every phone number for us. However will be going to the bank to get the £1600 out we need to pay on top of the deposit up front, then it's there. Can always be paid back in if needed.

I also can now collect the new car tomorrow, after 11.30am :D DP has said he will empty the rest of the car in the morning, he bloomin' better!

We always laid off weekend tasks to give those with families (or lives in general really) time to have a break without feeling guilty. I still think it would make some feel like they have failed even if it is just optional....ok catch ups, maybe a DIY task for those who are superkeen, but I wouldn't personally do a weekend list of seperate tasks. Some also do what the rest do all week on a weekend due to other committments, which would just make even more tasks for them. Just my opinion of course.
One day I might be more organised...........

Suppose maybe get the 'dailies' thing sorted then. Dailies should still be done on a weekend, maybe some need some pointers on what the dailies could/should be.

    Dailies I have..

WM, TD, DW/wash pots, BM, put away dry laundry, uniforms for the next day, S&S kitchen and bathroom, packed lunches

    Anyone anything to add?

Weekend tasks I was thinking stuff like tidy out the airing cupboard (lol SM), fill bag for charity/bin etc, meal plans, plus the dailies as well.. I do think most of us do the dailies without even thinking now.. or maybe that's just me! Most of those things I do on a weekend anyway.. I 'll just insist you all join me! lol

I do agree with the 'weekends off' but we all know we don't HAVE to do what is on the lists and if we want to veg all weekend we can.. guiltfree.. of course!!

Lil_me.. it's a pleasure.. take as long as you need!!
