Gave that a try this morning.. You'll never guess!!! ....All I got was "Not Responding"..... I give up. Looks like I'm going to have to fork out for a new PC or Laptop if this thing doesn't behave itself.

    Mmmmmm! PC or Laptop?

  • Don't fancy a second hand computer, it might prove to be worse than the one I've got, but thanks all the same.

have you reinstalled firefox (or visited the same sites in internet explorer), and used ccleaner and malwarebytes

visit your isp's faq's to see how to login to the router, where you can find out the speed of the connection

    Firefox...yes
    cleaner....yes
    malwarebytes...yes

I will try the isp faqs for router speed....but how does that help?
What do I do with the result? (If there is one).

unless it's a dire speed, it probably wont help, but it's informative, so post it

did you delete the old firefox profile when uninstalling
does this happen on every/most websites, immediately after launching firefox, or after a period of use

    Techie guys assistance required (again).

I keep getting the dreaded 'Not Responding' box whilst trying to load pages with Firefox. As if that isn't enough I'm also getting 'unresponsive script' messages. Is there anything I can do to reduce this constant nuisance?. I'm still using Windows XP which is no longer getting updates and this old PC is not compatible with anything newer.

I think Opera still works on XP: http://www.opera.com/

And there's Lunarscape although I know nothing of this one: http://www.lunascape.tv/

If they work then the problem is your Firefox installation.

When I ran the Speedtest you directed me to, although it didn't work for me, it also offered a program called 'OptiSpeed'. I ran it and it found several errors most of which were put right, but then it went and spoiled everything by directing me to its shop to purchase something that would get rid of a few other problems. I only like free stuff, thats why I joined Martins moneysaving.
Believe it or not but this thing seems to be running a little better....fingers crossed.

I think I've found the problem ... OP has a habit of clicking on random links and installing random stuff. :)
