does the speedtest not work on your atom?
have you tried the speedtest on a p4
I know that you are frustrated that he won't run a speed test, but it won't make a difference as that is not the issue here.
You write P4 as if all P4 CPU are all the same. You need to take my word for it. That P4 CPU simply cannot cope with what is being thrown at it, so applications do not respond in a timely fashion and throw out 'not responding' messages.0 -
why should I get frustrated, that's your domain
I don't need to take your word for it.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

following up a response to an information gathering exercise is not banging on
badgering people to buy ebay machines or ssd's or ram until you get your way is banging on, a modicum of emotional intelligence might help in your relentless quest to get people to do as you say.
I've said it's ready for replacement, and don't need lessons in what 'not responding' means, so lets leave it there.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

This is a website dedicated to spending as little as possible to get the result needed.
The OP doesn't need bells and whistles, as indicated by what he is currently utilising.
So an inexpensive and good quality second user machine will be more than adequate to his needs.
Wasting time badgering someone to do a speedtest when you suggest that you already know the possible causes behind 'not responding' and 'not responsive' seems a bit strange.
You may think that you don't need lessons, but this isn't your thread.
I can only assume that you have suffered some kind of brain injury, as your posts are becoming increasing bizarre, as are your responses to other's suggestions.
You are very clearly off the mark, yet here you are arguing over nothing, but your hurt ego.0 -
question asked oncehow fast is the internet connection
do you have problems maintaining eye contact
you can keep editing taunts into the last line and question health and expertise until the cow launches over the turrets, it don't matter to me, it provides endless amusement.
attempts at confidence bashing only work on people with no confidence or no knowledge, wrong target. I know the speedtest works on a machine of that spec for a fact.
ready to move on yet, or should I fetch the cow.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

No problems at all.Have to do it often when meeting new people whilst travelling. Why do you ask?
I edited as I wanted to soften my comment against someone who clearly has 'issues'.
This has nothing to do with whether the machine is capable of running a speed test.
Going further, the OP's issue has nothing to do with Internet bandwidth at all.
Cow?
You are like a dog who thinks he has a bone, but doesn't realise that he's running around with a turd in his mouth.
Let the speed test go man!
Take note at the edit byline in your posts0 -
internet connection speed can be found by doing a web based speed test or looking at the router statistics
visit your isp's faq's to see how to login to the router, where you can find out the speed of the connectionunless it's a dire speed, it probably wont help, but it's informative, so post itthe instructions you are looking for are how to login to the router, then all should become apparent.they can't even complete a speed test, it's not the spec, does the speedtest not work on your atom?

Once? You are barking up the wrong tree and wasting the OP's time.0 -
you're hard work
The op was asked once, do you not understand the difference between questions, answers, and instructions
You were asked to do it once on one of your many machines you like to brag about, but conveniently ignored it.
it's only been revisited because the op needed further explanation on how to do it, (a useful skill for anyone to know), and because of the slightly odd troll who keeps wasting his time on me, because he's not getting his own way bullying the op who doesn't want to buy second hand off ebay. That pushback happens to you a lot doesn't it, freedom of choice is a bit of a !!!!er for control freaks.
read post 13, go get a similar machine and carry out the same test, and then you will understand why I'm not barking up the wrong tree, the speedtest isn't the point, the point is it's the only site the op has specified which causes the symptom.
the question normally goes like this, what's your speed, xxxx, the end. 10 seconds max.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

Denial is not a river in Egypt, it is your state of mind. Seven posts about the speed test, now eight is banging on and definitely barking up the wrong tree.
Now you are trying to claimthe speedtest isn't the point, the point is it's the only site the op has specified which causes the symptom
Are you suggesting that the speed test is why the OP began the thread? :rotfl:
Sorry mate, but you appear a whole lunch short of a picnic.
You've been banging on about checking the router for stats and now you are trying to suggest that the speed test is not the point. That is just weird.
Indeed my machine can run the speed test, especially as it is customised with an SSD. But it is not my machine that is in question, is it?
The OP's machine has less than half the processing power of my Atom CPU which supports DDR2 RAM
His Motherboard is quite likely the Gigabyte GA-8IDMNF.
A Motherboard that supports PC100, PC133 RAM and Ultra DMA/100. That's right, not even DDR1 RAM nor IDE.
We are talking about a fifteen year old plus PC here.
So stop wasting everyone's time with your nonsense. It's has nothing to do with connection speed or the router.
Bragging about your knowledge only leads to your eventual humiliation.
The machine I suggested is ten years newer that the OP's machine and as such will be a great leap forward for a relatively small outlay.
On the subject of Trolls, I recall some other BMs addressing you as such. Quite recently in fact.0
