I'm having pate and baguette tonight rather than cheese

My CFO is none existent atm :o (as in I'm not cooking but there's still only one here)...hence no posts in here or in the what's for dinner thread.

Completely off topic but early this morning I was alerted by a PM from MSE Badger that I had made 1000 posts. I posted a few more then off to work for the day..followed by one or two more posts early evening...then all of a sudden my count dropped to 997

I only noticed because of the PM. So have I been naughty and had posts deleted or is there some other possible reason? :o Baffled.

SO back on topic, I'm thinking another chunk of bread and pate may be in order: I can't sleep if I'm hungry :o

I only needed the letter from DVLA to apply initially - it just had to be dated within 12 months.

That's interesting. My letter just says "We have received medical information that you have recently suffered a cardiac illness so you should not drive at present. This means that you entitlement to drive will be revoked from .....then it lays down criteria I have to meet to be able to drive again then...you can consider re-applying when your doctor is able to confirm that you meet these criteria.

Did your letter state how long your licence was revoked for? The form I have got for a bus pass says that I need a letter from DVLA revoking my licence and that it must be for a minimum of 12 months, otherwise a GP has to complete at statement on the back.

It seems odd that your number of posts has dropped, I can't think of any reason why that should have happened.

I can't sleep if I'm hungry either. I've just had a couple of slices of toast one with some honey and one just with butter. I feel better now :)

.... always conscious of the weight as I had to carry it all home I felt sure that I hadn't got too much. Well the best ideas and all that...about a mile into the walk home I realised that this shopping really was heavy ....

Someone over on the daily thread has suggested a trolley, and I am going to have a look in the shops tomorrow for one.
A couple of points: my old parents used to use rucksacks for their daily shopping trips - the weight is distributed well/evenly and you've still your hands free. They were aged about 68 & 75 when they were doing that, regularly walking the 2 mile round trip each day.

Bags just cut into your hands ... and, once you've started you can't stop. I hate that when that happens - you think you're about to die, but you HAVE to keep going because there aren't the alternatives.

I picked up a trolley just a week ago (car boot). I plan to buy "one I like/choose" at some point "when the price is right", but thought I'd get "any one that's cheap for now to see how it goes". Saw one at £4 that I didn't like ... and then saw one for £4 that'd "do for now".

They're "trendy" these days, which is great because they've always looked handy, but when they were only previously used by little old ladies and they were all in tartan print it was something I simply wouldn't even entertain :)

I've been researching sizes/styles/weight capacity etc in recent weeks - as well as print styles.

The one I've picked up is foldable and the bag removes.

Not actually needed to use it yet ... but I've got it "in case" so to speak. My original thinking was that it'd be handy to pack everything in case I were invited to a beach BBQ (it happened once.... so I live in hope). I didn't like the last time having to carry everything ... of course, there turned out to be steps involved, which aren't great with a trolley!

I took the out of date Ibuprofen about noon-ish yesterday - and that was fine until about 4am this morning when I woke up and had to get up to paw around in my box of out of date drugs ... and I had two of the budget supermarket 20p/box tablets. They took a LOT longer than Ibuprofen to kick in., it was nearly an hour before I realised the pain had gone and I could go and have a nice warm bath.

Being somebody not used to taking any drugs/meds at all, 16 hours for the first lot to last seems reasonable. I didn't want to take any more yesterday as I don't really like using pain killers as I fear "doing something daft" just because I don't get the pain reminders that something's actually hurting.

I do still have one portion of curry .... I've never had spinach, it looks a bit nasty, so won't be buying it to try :)

The letter I had from DVLA stated I needed to be symptom free for 12 months and then I could reapply but a medical examination would be needed. In Scotland it just needs to be revoked no timescale need to apply initially I got a pass for 2 months, then a year and now until 2020 (because I've got PIP now)

It's lovely stuff - I buy it frozen so I don't need to worry about using it up.

I've just had toast with LO broccoli & peppercorn sauce it was very tasty:) no idea what the rest of the day will bring foodwise at the moment.

    Afternoon all,

Today I set off on a two mile walk to Tesco and back because they had a few items on offer that I couldn't get cheaper anywhere else. There and no buses that go from here to there. The walk there was a nice pleasant stroll in the warm sunshine. They even had everything in stock that I had wanted. As I walked around clutching my basket always conscious of the weight as I had to carry it all home I felt sure that I hadn't got too much. Well the best ideas and all that...about a mile into the walk home I realised that this shopping really was heavy :( so much so that I was starting to feel ill. My hand and arms started shaking, a sure sign with me of physical exhaustion. At one point I didn't think I would make it home, and I had forgotten my mobile so couldn't phone for a taxi either. I did eventually make it home and had to lie down for a while before I could put the shopping away.

Someone over on the daily thread has suggested a trolley, and I am going to have a look in the shops tomorrow for one. I can walk the two miles no problem but it is the weight of the shopping. Probably wasn't a good idea because of my heart problem!

Anyhow, breakfast was porridge, and I had a main meal at lunch time of some cod, new potatoes and steamed veg and made a parsley sauce to go with it. I had a crumpet for pudding. I am going to have a pastrami sandwich for tea with a choux bun (both y/s in Tesco this morning). There will be pastrami for sandwiches tomorrow as well.

I hope that you are all having a good day.

I use a shopping trolly and wouldn't be without it. The first one I bought I made a mistake as bought one of those two wheeled ones that you pull behind you. The weight of this on my hand and right shoulder put me in agony for days. Now I have a four wheel push along and can happily load it up and trundle along.

I'm in Essex and I phoned the helpline this morning and they said that if I complete the application form and send in the letter from DVLA and the usual proof of address and a passport photo then they should be able to issue a 12 month pass. They said that asking the GP to complete it wouldn't help because the maximum they are allowed to issue one for at this stage is 12 months. They said that after the 12 months then they would ask for medical evidence and I would need the GP to complete the form then.

So, I am waiting in for a collection of furniture that I am donating to the British Heart Foundation, and then I will probably pop back up to the town and get at photo done and get that sent off.

I went into three shops that sell them this morning and pushed/pulled the ones I liked around the stores, I am leaning towards the 4 wheeled ones. Although they did tend to be a bit heavier they all seem to hold a lot more, so useful for the bulky items. I are hoping to have another look tomorrow.
