I eat a lot of chicken because you can turn it into so many different casserole/stew/curries in the slow cooker, which is so easy provided you remember to put it on early enough, there has been the odd occasion when I have defrosted the chicken then forgot to get it in the slow cooker until too late in the day0 -

I can't use a whole one - grossed out by bones/carcass and skin, other funny bits etc. I'm really funny with meat and seeing it and touching it. I hate to eat at a table where there's a carcass, or, worse, if I can see people munching on ribs and setting them down on their platesEugh.
I was eyeing up the £2.49 little frozen rolled chicken breast things in a tin foil earlier in 4ldi. Serves 4, they were priced at 44.4p/100g, whereas ready cooked/sliced chicken in packs were priced at £1.10-£1.30/100g. Weight must be about 560 grams, so I might try one of those soon as the size appears about right for a single to possibly be able to eat their way through as 3-4 meals.
They might become something I buy once every 2 months or so.0 -

.... that having been said .... I personally think the 4-wheelers are a step too far in the direction of "old lady"
/QUOTE]
No I'm not worried about the fashion statement. I'll for whatever one I think will suit my needs best.
Does 57 count as an 'old lady'I certainly don't feel like an old lady yet
If early 60s (ie myself) doesnt count as "old lady" yet - then 57 certainly doesnt imo:).
I've tried both types of shopping trolley - but, when I found myself donating two push-along 4-wheelers that were very good condition to charity shops I realised I couldnt handle using a 4-wheeler emotionally myself and it would have to be pull-along 2-wheelers or nowt. I've also found myself giving away a perfectly decent tartan one too - as I realised I couldnt handle that either emotionally.
So I get the most stylish/fashionable/"I meant it anyway" one I can find personally (yep...even though that means spending £35/£40 or so a go....) and tell myself that if even the most elegant/stylish European women think nothing of using the pull-alongs then it's about time it became "the thing" in this country:) and I'm just being a bit "ahead of the trend".
Yep....call me vain:rotfl: - but I'd better not ever need a walking stick - as I wouldnt use that either:rotfl:0 -
Today's total of food to date lunch/dinner.
More crudites with hummus for lunch (that singles repetitiveness:() and last slice of sourdough seedy bread and then a peach and a drink of coconut milk and few dried mulberries.
Later on a banana/just had a tiny bit of cheddar cheese and then a bit of rainbow trout baked in sorrel and a flat type peach and bit of wholemeal toast to fill stomach popped in the toaster and hope I don't feel hungry enough for a second slice in a minute.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Holly - hopefully your bus pass will go through smoothly
Shopping for one a whole new issue for carless CFOs. :mad:Trolleys - whatever works for you. Me I'm a more "substance over style" kind of gal and really did have to get over myself as they say when I had to start using a rollator (zimmer) bring back my walking stick all is forgiven though I hated that when I had to start using one:)
No gardening done today as my balance was co-operating so it was a quick lunch of a piece of baguette with pork loin and salad followed by a serious snooze. Feel the better of it now and the bathroom has been cleaned and the floors swept:)
Still not sure about dinner but it may involve leeks and sausages as I have two leeks needing using up.:)0 -

As the daughter of a fishworker, grand daughter of a butcher and great-niece of a gamekeeper I grew up with meat coming as is so I'm not squeamish at all though I know many are.If the chicken roast is just chicken breast it's good value but if it is reformed chicken it might not be so tasty:) I've had this one from Tesco before https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=272866077 and it was really tasty (and on SO at the moment)

I know what you're saying and I was going to check before I bought. They don't have the info online.
Mr T also adds a "cost of acquisition", it's a 12 mile round trip - and I often find that when I've been there in the past for one specific item they're out of stock, it's not a massive store, just a regular/big one.
12 miles return adds £2 to the cost
Your link is 800 grams, that's how big my Xmas turkey joint was ... thought I'd never see the back of that!0 -

I couldn't remember if Tesco was local to you or not. 800g isn't huge you could half it, dice one half for a curry and cook the other piece whole for whatever you wanted it for
It still needs eating ... or that dreaded thing... freezing
My nearest two are L1dl/4ldi. Then Sainsbobs. Within a 2 mile return journey are also Waitrose (£2 to park) and M&S Food (£1 to park).
After that it's:
Mr T & Morries: Both same place, so both 12 miles return
A5da: 15 miles return.
90% of the time I visit a specific shop for a specific product it's usually out of stock. You can't even tell whether they ever have stock until you're in the shop too as you can't look up "what food do they actually have in MY store".
I had a specific crab pate on my Xmas food wish list - visited A5da on two separate days to try to get it ... both times shelves were empty.0 -

I've lost count of the amount of time that has happened to meI must look a right idiot at times, just standing there looking at the empty space where whatever I have gone in for should be, and like you I've even tried going back the next day and still not been able to get what I want.
