Well I certainly wouldn't say they're bad for you. Never really thought about it.

Don't think it will be pancakes here, unless anyone has a milkless recipe that works. Just going to nuke the last spud, to have with cheese, beans and a tomato.

    Thanks for your replies :D.

The high salt content was the reason why I asked. I didn't know if it offset the goodness in the fish.

Wouldn't have thought so if anything it probably helps preserve the oils and nutrients:)

I think it's a moderation thing, something's are high in salt others are low, similar with sugars, fats, vitamins etc. As long as you eat a range of food it should all balance out.

    Me neither :rotfl:

But it's amazing the things you think about when you are just 'ONE', had a day off work and found an ancient tin of anchovies in the cupboard

Hello all, good to read the updates and see some great pics of the food ...I'm feeling a bit disappointed that I overspent by £30+ on my grocery challenge when I really thought I'd been doing well... new month starts tomorrow so I will have to be more careful...

    Update for yesterday and today
    Yesterday -
Breakfast - porridge with half a banana and a few blueberries. A few prunes for a snack later on - oh and half a dozen almonds..
Lunch - Bacons sandwich with HP sauce. 6 Milky Ways (I made the mistake of re-discovering Poundland), maybe a few more nuts and a yogurt.
Dinner - Veggie chilli and coriander rice (again) but lovely...

    Today
Breakfast - porridge with half a banana and a few blueberries
Lunch - Two slices of toast, some hummus, a tomatoe, 3 spring onions, an ounce of cheddar, spoon of pickle and some balsamic.
Snacks - about 5 prunes, half a dozen almonds,
Dinner - Baked potatoe with spread, salt and pepper plus tuna mixed with a little plain yogurt, parsley, lemon juice. Yogurt for dessert.
Cups of tea throughout the day and my Over 50s vitamin tablet! Gosh that makes me sound like I'm getting on!
  • Breakfast : porridge, raspberries, blueberries, apple with what was left of my cashew milk and the last of a pot of soya yogurt.
Lunch : cucumber, carrot and celeriac microwaved and eaten with half a pot of houmous.
Dinner : soup (from the freezer), bombay potatoes (from freezer), with sweetcorn, peas and kale.
I'm stuffed right now as not long finished dinner. Doesn't look like I'll be asking the OH to make me vegan pancakes.

The OH however has basically only had coffee and pancakes, cooked in butter and smothered in duo chocolate spread , today. Oh and a few slices of toast.

This really is a household divided!
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

Does anyone know anything about calories? I had a message from a friend that she had run my my menus through myfitnesspal and they were seriously lacking in calories. Ive had a look and she seems to be right
but I think their figures must be out somewhere. I don't think theres anyway that this lot can come to below 700 calories. That is for the whole day. Same with yesterdays.
I'm not an expert but I did a nutrition course and had to write up meal/weight management plans that were calorie counted but also nutritious. I used these tables rather than those on the apps. When you say 700 calories a day do you mean you are on a diet of 700 a day as that doesn't sound at all healthy, even if you are trying to lose weight. Or is that your friend's calculation? Are you sure she isn't trying to trick you into eating more than you are (maybe a bit of the green eyed monster)?! Your meals always look healthy and balanced. I would say that the fish meal is a good healthy meal and the right amount of calories and nutrition but would hope you had other foods as well during the day. If you don't eat a certain amount of calories on a regular basis I have heard your body goes into survival mode and stores up fat reserves although I don't know how true that is...
The tables with the calories and nutrition content are towards the end of the booklets (the booklets are quite long but the important stuff near the back) - .https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/167942/Nutrient_analysis_of_fruit_and_vegetables_-_Summary_Report.pdf

I gave up on Milky Way when they changed them 20-30 years ago. They used to have a tasty, brown, centre, then it changed to a light stuff that's just not tasty at all.

Never heard of such a thing! You've been reading too many magazines.

Stop it ... and get back down to Poundland to see what other joys you can spend that cash on!

    :)
