Easy dinner ended up being piece of HM quiche from the freezer, baked spud with peas and sweetcorn. Really enjoyed it.:)
sitesafe I went over budget too in Feb though still less than what used to be my minimum. Don't know still trying to find my way re what works for me spend-wise while still eating a reasonably healthy and most importantly tasty diet0 -

Yes they did change them, I was disappointed too (whenever I like something it always seems to change it's recipe or they stop making it) I much prefered them before, I remember they changed them to a near on white middle, with a different taste, but seem to have changed them back to a brown (although lighter than the original) and they do taste better than the white now
Never heard of such a thing! You've been reading too many magazines.
Stop it ... and get back down to Poundland to see what other joys you can spend that cash on!
I returned today and spent £7 - a (good quality) garden trowel, some herb seeds, 2 seedling trays, a mini polytunnel, a solar light that changes colour for the garden and a packet of face wipes - couldn't believe the value for money in there. Have decided to try to grow my own herbs as I am spending quite a bit on parsley and coriander...0 -

I thought "I know, I'll bung you in the garden and you'll grow and I'll get rosemary forever from that..." so I took it home and didn't get round to shoving it in the ground for weeks - just kept staring at it. Then one day I suddenly decided to do it, but I had no tools, so poked a stick roughly in the ground, shoved the plant in the hole and half covered the roots over, but not well.... I expected it to die.
Now, 2 years on, it's a full big bush about 2' high. Never used any of it though
Saw a Basil in the same shop the other week, for 10p ...stopped and thought how well the rosemary had done - then stopped myself by thinking "NEVER in your ENTIRE life have you EVER bought/eaten fresh basil ...so what on earth do you think you need that plant for?" and I left it.0 -

I think basil is an annual - so it would have died over winter.
And then you would have been sad (or is that just me that get's sad when plants die?)That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

The intention is you buy them, rip the bits off "fresh" then bin the lot and return to buy more in the future (I think) - and it was knocked down to 10p. So I stared at it and bought it.

I had to have a google for oca - is it bit like kholrabi?:)
Appearance wise - like small/very knobbly/coloured potatoes (well - it is a root vegetable).
Taste-wise - rather lemon-y taste. Hence I felt pretty sure I'd like them - as I do have a tendency to add lemon to everything.
Shall certainly be getting some of them again. Might try growing some myself at some point...0 -

Might try growing some myself at some point...I tried to grow some basil from a pot but didn't succeed....I think coriander will be tricky too...I love rosemary but there is already a plant in the garden.... Maybe you would like the fresh basil if you tried it. It's great with fresh tomatoes and mozarella cheese that have been drizzled with oil and balsamic....:)
Morning everyone
Another chilly one here and due to get colder later so making a pot of mince - now the big debate mash or dumplings? I know I won't manage both so undecided will see what I feel like later on though at the moment I think a dumpling might have the edge0
