I do enjoy reading this thread, you are a chatty lot and come up with some great ideas
I've mentioned before that PasturesNew would do a great blog, never mind a book! She is rather coy though
Actually the whole lot of you should do a book! Almost makes me wish I was single again haha...well maybe that comment is somewhat unkind to hubby, bless him
I do miss the eat anything and anytime I fancy thing, and not setting a table or using proper crockery and cutlery, or ensuring we get our nutrients and veggies nor just baking a whopping luxurious chocolate cake just for me and having that for dinner with lashings of whipped cream, eating takeaway cold for brunch, wine cheese and crisps curled up with my "spinster cats" ...no wonder I'm a on the weightloss thread :rotfl:
Ahh the memories0 -
Btw I kept the cats0

Just catching up...blimey you lot can chat
Back soon with more slow cooker and cooking for one dilemmas
Cant they just
Have to be contrary now and say I love my slow cooker and when I am not emptying out the freezer it was in use a good couple of times of month. Never had strange tastes either when I cook for more than 4-6 hours just the opposite the food seems to improve over the time.
I also don't believe single people need to just eat basic food either so modern it is for me ( I would read PNs book though if only for a giggle at her sense of humour)
I often wish I had a family of 10 to cater for then I could test out all of my recipes but hey ho I dont so its freezer turkey again for me
So based on the above its probably time I got my coat :rotfl:0 -
Another who thinks PN should have a blog . I love the sometimes funny but always thought provoking things you post . The fact you took the flak from me by exceeding my chocolate binge would get me voting for you anyway .
I'm still thinking of your changed weight dilemma re flour and suet -see what I mean ? you make me think .
pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Blimey I go for a nap and two pages of posts
So is anyone having slow cooked pizza for tonight?:rotfl::rotfl:
I've nicked Nelski's dinner (well you did say you were getting fed up of turkey LOL:D) and I'm having turkey, veg, root mash and gravy later. I've been munchy the past couple of days (will blame a slight change in meds rather than greed) and have already scoffed toast & pate, crumpet and cheese and a bowl of soup not huge portions but still quite a lot0 -

The weather makes me eat more too oddly ...the more miserable (and boy is it miserable today) the more I get the munchies roll on summer then I will be able to see my feet0 -

It's how my brain's wired.
What's great about it is, once dumped/weighed the once, it's there - and if you want to use it, you simply give it a quick stir around again and spoon out how much you need, based on how it looks... no more weighing, ever.
I empty the suet box into the container, then plonk it onto the scales and zero those, then tip in the flour. Job done. I use a "generous" sized box for it as I know there'll be some stirring to be done, or shaking if I'm lazy.
I used to do this too but love dumplings so much and cant for health reasons indulge too much that I now quite unashamedly buy a ready mix pack that only makes 8. Same with biscuits, chocolate and cakes etc. just don't have the self control, if its there it will be scoffed. then before I know it I will have put back the almost 4 stone I lost to be painfree and have screaming knees again.Slimming World at target0 -
On the slow cooker theme thanks for putting me right about cost of use. Clearly they are very economical and I am sure suit many, but I still wouldn't be tempted.
Everything I cook that could possibly go in a SC (veg chilli, veg curry, pasta sauces) are relatively quick to cook on the hob, and I like being able to fry my spices, onion, garlic first before completing whatever variety of sauce/meal I'm making. So, I can understand why people use them but for me I see no benefits...Each to their own..Vive la difference
Ok a common 'Cooking For One' issue next .
Now don't get me wrong..I love curry and treating myself to a take away at the weekend was great and a very rare treat...but...:o:rotfl:
I am now on to night 3 of madras..and I just don't 'fancy'/want it again! Last night I was very O/S and added chickpeas, spinach and mushrooms to the LO madras sauce (it made a lot). However, I wasn't very hungry and only ate half ...so I have LO again *sighs*
I don't want a third night of Madras :rotfl::rotfl:
ETA but Pizza, now that IS something I could eat tonight....'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -

I think you have done very well with your takeaway, lol it wouldn't have lasted me three days, so if you don't want to freeze it, bin it, lifes too short to stress about a bit of sauce and certainly too short to force yourself to eat what you don't want.Slimming World at target0
