Sorry Thumbremote I wish you all the best and good health but I am afraid I have decided to not respond to anything you say to me directly, I accept you will do the same.

Hi Sweetikins, very sorry you feel like that. Does this mean you'll be responding to me indirectly? If so, how will that work? Should I be looking for messages passed surreptitiously under the school desk?

Nope. I would comment, but I am not talking to anyone today.

  • I do a fair bit of shopping on Amazon.

I am a Prime customer....not just for the free delivery!

Some items sent from Amazon themselves are not eligible for Prime delivery...on only one occasion has delivery taken longer than the estimate quoted online - and I had an e-mail from Amazon apologising for the delay and giving full details of the amended delivery day and giving me the offer to cancel if this was unacceptable.

If the item comes from a non-Amazon company then delivery is not next day...Amazon do not prompt the companies to do a quick delivery. The last item I ordered from a non-Amazon company, the delivery date given as 7-10 days with an option to pay extra to have a 4-6 day delivery.

I have been with Amazon for some years now - and have seen no issues with slow delivery......extremely slow-witted couriers - absolutely! But that is a different issue!

Gosh, people are so impatient these days.
Am i the only one that remembers the ubiquitous small print that read 'please allow at least 28 days for delivery'
    :)

The problem is that Amazon used to deliver everything quickly before they decided to try to get everyone to spend extra on Prime. My gripe is about their deliberate degradation of service to their occasional customers who can't justify spending the extra. I'd much rather support companies that provide a consistently good level of service for everyone.

Not at all - I think we are so spoilt nowadays. If people can't wait those few extra days for something they should plan more efficiently, find an alternative online retailer or get out and buy something from a "real shop", but then of course they'd be complaining about things costing so much more than Amazon!

Ladydee has it perfectly summed up.
  • Amazon always give a delivery estimate date, if it comes from China even estimating upwards of 3-4 weeks to cover themselves, so unless they go past their estimated date then the problem lies between brain, fingers and keyboard!

I am always impressed with the speed and efficiency of Amazon. I don't have Prime and always select free delivery.

What I do is to have items delivered to a Spar shop which is only a few minutes walk from my house. The stuff comes really quickly. In fact my last order (last week) was available for collection the next day.

I do find it takes a bit longer if I have a home delivery but then I always worry I won't be there to receive stuff. Pass the Parcel (I think they call it that) is definitely the way to go.
