  • But then we are just leaving the holiday period, would that not affect it?
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.
  • People buy something online on Christmas day and expect the item delivered on Boxing day.

Sometimes people forget that when they place an order, there is a human who has to deal with this and delays can be caused by many things..
    Christmas busy period
too many orders to deal with at the normal speed
person is sick or having a holiday
not enough staff due to holidays or sickness
new person has taken on the roll.

Sometime in this world you just have to have a little bit of understanding and patience.

If you don't mind slow delivery then what does it matter to you what happens in the process as long as it arrives before the end of the advised time frame?

Because then he'd have to fond some other non-issue to moan about, it's easier to just bang on about this one than thinking up a whole new one.

Very true, I don't want to trigger a slew of threads about such things.

I ordered several small items on Wednesday, merrily clicked through, paid and received the confirmation email. It was then I noticed that the delivery date was weeks away. I thought it must just be an error, so I rang Amazon, spoke to a lovely young lady who explained one of the items was causing the delay, and would I like to cancel that item. I said I would and the parcel is already out for delivery.

I think that one item must have been on back order and as I had selected the option to have as few parcels as possible it would have held up the rest.

No drama, no ranting about cancelling and not buying from Amazon ever again. One perfectly friendly chat with CS and problem sorted.

Well I checked all 3 items were sold by Amazon and that all 3 were in stock.

The delivery estimates are no reliable. As other people who inadvertently stated that sometimes Amazon dispatches sooner than estimated and the item arrives earlier!!! Well there in lies the problem, occasionally they overshoot the delivery time and their estimates are completely wrong. Which is why I pay no attention to it.

If the item is slow during transit, then that's my fault and I put my hands up to it for not choosing express delivery option.

But when the package is delayed because Amazon just sat on the order, despite items being in stock then that's down to Amazon.

I have noticed this slow despatch times on Amazon lately. Ever since prime they want to shift users onto subscribing to prime so prime customers get priority, normal customers get diddly squat.

People think "oh prime, I got a subscription, I'm VIP, I get fast delivery". That;s only going to be a short while soon when their prime subscribers baloon up you'll find that you have to buy prime just to get normal delivery rates and if you want to get next day delivery you have to opt for super prime or something.
  • So, you're complaining that despite Amazon clearly stating the delivery window for an item you choose not to believe it and because it didn't turn up when you wanted it despite being within the original delivery window you want to return it and get them to ship it to you again with free postage?

I guess everyone has their hobby, but most of us find more productive things to do with our time!

FWIW I've *never* had an issue with deliveries from amazon. Well, once; They sent a book with a damaged cover but sent a new one without delay and didn't want the old one back.

An early delivery is a bonus.

An on time delivery is what you paid for and what you got.

    You have no complaint.

But what you are not considering is that when using free delivery they know they have a few days before they have to deliver it so they are going to do it in the most cost effective method possible. So some of the reasons for a slow dispatch are:

-If its a busy period they can plan to dispatch it in a couple of days later when it isn't as busy or staff levels are increased.
-Booking the courier 3 days before the dispatch date may mean they get it at a lower price. Couriers are used to customer wanting their order dispatched immediately. If Amazon can say we have 10,000 packages to go to Bristol in 3 days then the courier can plan ahead so Amazon can negotiate a cheaper price.

So really like other said you should be focusing on whether or not the delivery arrives by the due date or not, when the dispatch it is irrelevant.

Also regarding your comments about Prime increasing in price and new levels being introduced, that's very unlikely to happen. Amazon are spending a lot of money to get new Prime subscribers and the reason for that is that Prime customers are 50% more likely to only buy from Amazon compared to other users of the site. So the more Prime customers there are the more products they sell. So they wouldn't start upsetting customers by stopping next day delivery because then they would start shopping elsewhere again.

I am sorry but I am not able to offer any further assistance to you, I would suggest you shop elsewhere in the future so that you do not have to deal with the stressful situation that you have described again.
