Amazon slow dispatch.

I have noticed the incredible delays in amazon getting customers orders out in a reasonable time.

Before you could expect amazon to send your items within hours of placing an order. Now it seems that they only care about prioritising prime orders.

I was eligible for free delivery, placed order on 10th. BUT I elected standard delivery - it still did not alter their speed of dispatch. The despatched on the 12th!

Serves them right, I will reject the package at the door and let them absorb the hit. I will then reorder the item with free p&p.

I needed the items for a business presentation, but sicne it arrives tomorrow it will not arrive in time.

Standard delivery is 1 to 2 business days after dispatch. They'll have given you an estimated delivery date when you ordered, is that tomorrow or afterwards? I'd guess so.

The problem here is not Amazon. You selected the wrong delivery service for your business needs.

Why are you going to reorder the goods if tomorrow is too late?
  • When did they say it would be delivered? Standard delivery is usually 3 working days from order, depending on where it's coming from.

And why wouldn't they prioritise prime orders? That's what the customers are paying for after all.

I'm sure that will show them! You could always try querying it with them if you're unhappy, Amazon are usually very reasonable.

Is ordering something on the 10th and delivered on the 13th really an incredible delay?

When you buy on ebay you're used to having your items dispatch fast. on ebay most power sellers will dispatch your items the same day if you order before noon. On amazon I actuaslly did order first thing in the morning expecting them to dispatch the same day. They do give you an estimated delivery date which I assumed meant they'll use the slowest post so it would take 2-3 days in TRANSIT.

But takes 2-3 days to pick items from the warehouse to pack, label and hand over to courier is just unacceptable.

Most companies if they have an item in stock will dispatch same day or the day after. I deliberately checked that items were "sold by amazon" and eligible for prime and in stock before I ordered to ensure that it was dispatched fast as it is not dependant on third party sellers.

But that's the crunch, amazon would push third party sellers to dispatch fast, they wouldn't let their third party sellers hold onto the order for 48 hours before dispatching.

Looking at some 3rd party seller items.

"Get it as soon as 16 - 18 Jan. when you choose Express Delivery at checkout."
"Usually dispatched within 6 to 10 days."
    etc.,

I orders on Amazon at the beginning of December . Three orders were dispatched a day before they said they would be bd were delivered a day before the estimated delivery date.

I ordered on 10 th . One order dispatched at 7.40 am on 11th, other dispatched at 8.12 on 11 th.

And I am not a Prime customer. All items bought with free delivery.
  • I cant beleive people are standing behind amazon's slow dispatch. Every retailer I use - they always dispatch next day or same day. If they dont dispatch the following day I just cancel my order. If the item is in stock then get off your !!!! and pack and post the item. Dont hold onto the item.

Amazon were the king of fast dispatch in the past. Now it seems that they take their sweet !!!! time. I dont mind the slow delivery. But I do mind when retailers just hold onto items because to me they're slowing down the process unnecesserily.

Ebuyer and Amazon appear to have phases with their delivery.

Buy something with the saver delivery, it sits at the picking stage until the day before its supposed to arrive then arrives on the correct day having been sent next day delivery. Surely its cheaper to send sooner using a cheaper service?

If you are going to cancel your Amazon order every time they don't dispatch quickly enough for your liking you may find Amazon will close your account.

Amazon have never failed to dispatch an item to me on time. Often it's been earlier than the time quoted.

If you don't mind slow delivery then what does it matter to you what happens in the process as long as it arrives before the end of the advised time frame? If you must have something quickly then pay for it. Amazon give you lots of delivery options, if you select the cheapest then you can't expect them to prioritise your order over those of customers who have selected a more expensive one.
