Hello again all. Nothing major to report really. Everything ticking along nicely. So far I am easily keeping to my food budget. Have actually got a freezer stuffed to the rafters. So really rather than buy bargains I should be using what I have. Hard to resist a good deal though.

Tuesday is a big day for us though. Little one is being put to sleep so that they can try and find out what is wrong with her eye. They tried to do it when she was awake but she wasn't co-operating. Fingers crossed that it'll all work out fine.

Hugs to those that need them and a big hello to all.

    Hi Nicola
I knit on a regular basis, mainly scarves. I've also been givev a lot of odd balls of wool, so I recently bought a book called 2 balls or less to see what else I can do with all the oddments.
Ok, the blogs up & running, the link is on my profile, but isn't for the faint hearted, lol.
    Hugs Hester

Still waters run deep eh Hester:D

Good on ya girl and I will never again see you as only a knitter:rotfl:
  • Hi Nicola

I am a knitter too but these days it is tailing off. Have over the last few years enjoyed knitting Jean Greenhowe toys for friends, family and raffle prizes. Have 3 on the go just now (for over 2 years) but lost motivation a bit.

My nanna, God rest her soul, used to knit Jean Greenhowe toys. I remember every birthday we'd get the cook with the birthday cake. I also had a fantastic cinderella doll too that could be the ball cinderella or the slave cinderella. One day I hope to be good enough to knit those too.

    Hello all,

Huge hugs to PP, TM et al

Am having a super lazy day - haven't even got out of my PJs :j

The only thing I have actually done is relocate the microwave to on top of the frezer instead of on the windowsill (after looking at the OS magic thread :) )

Can't even do the washing up because someone has used all the hot water

IF my washing is dry later, I shall do the ironing.

    Have a good one

    Hello everyone,
Yesterday morning was fairly busy with hunting out DD's school books. Luckily one was a shakespeare and we found it in oxfam and so saved about £7 compared with a new one. We had the remains of our big chicken as curry last night. We rarely have curry as DS wont eat anything spicey or hot but as he is now at uni, we poor suffering souls can wallow in spicey and tongue sizzling grub:)
This morning at Asda's I managed to be overcharged for a box of eggs. They were the £1 for 15 box and so I was suprised to find I had paid £1.19 and queried it. The customer care person handed me the 19p and waited for me to go until I asked for the 'compensation' (they are supposed to give £2 on an asda card if they over charge you),then she said ,'I'm just getting it...' but really it was obvious she had had no intention of offering it if I had not mentioned it. I wonder how many people just do not realise that and leave the shop without it. As far as I am concerned, they have been done a favour because they type the error into the computer and it is adjusted throughout the store or at least the price displayed is changed, so to make the customer feel uncomfortable about asking for it is a little unfair.
I bought myself a new mobile phone through amazon. It is a clever thing as it can do gps navigating. DH has one and we used it on a long drive recently. I usually don't enjoy driving as I am constantly worrying about being lost (ongoing problem since a child) which has really made life tricky at times but I found it felt very safe to have a guiding voice to direct me (even with DH asleep in the drivers seat)and not have to worry about going the wrong way. Ofcourse DH takes his phone to work with him etc ,so a second phone will mean I can now do the bigger trips without waiting for DH to take us.
Tomorrow will be a trip to the post office to send off DS's forgotten bits and pieces.
nothing else to report really LOL
    All the best

I know! Makes me wonder if they tally up all the £2 amounts they dont pass on rightfully and pocket them. That is only the second time I have ever been overcharged on none reduced items and the last time was just the same and the same customer care person too. Doesn't do Asda's reputation any good to have someone who makes you feel bad to ask for what you know you have a right to.

My dad is at my sisters at the minute but as i guessed my mum has lost the plot over my present for him (a photo of him and all his grandkids taken on a rare visit) she is convinced it was taken last week even though my dd has a swimming costume on in the picture??? And has phoned my sisiter to say she has thrown all my dads stuff outside on the garden and he isnt allowed to go home EVER!!! I just dont need this all i did was send my dad something i knew he would tresure for his 60th and now she has throw him out, i know dad will try and go home later and world war 3 will break out and end up with the police there, but i cant do anything my dad need to stand up to her and move out!!!

Anyway im going to try and still enjoy my evening with dh and the kids, and do abit more xmas shopping on ebay.

I used to be a champion knitter, but time has taken its toll on my hands and its difficult to hold the needles now, so earlier this year I put all my knitting needles, crochet hooks etc and some wool on freecycle, I was inundated with people who wanted them.....in the end I put everyones name in a bag and drew out the winner. When the lady came to collect she was so excited, I could not believe it. I used to knit all the childrens stuff when they were small as well as ours......and for the granchildren when they came along, wool is so expensive now, I was looking at soem the other day, could not beleieve what it cost.

We have a GPS system, OH does not use it very often, but he did yesterday, he got a big shock when it told him he was going the wrong way.........I ad to laugh his bowling chum who was travelling with him said he kept telling 'the silly woman' to shut up!!!

I was so tired after lunch I went to bed, slept for about an hour and a half, now feel like death, why do I do it????? Lamb is in the oven, lovely smells wafting through the apartment....OH said he could smell it on the landing as he came in. What was supposed to be a reasonable day has turned into a dull one and its not exactly warm.

Our resident drunk fell off his perch again yesterday, he had to be picked up by the ambulance service and delivered back to his flat......its getting a regular thing.........I told him the other day they would start charging him!!!! It is so sad, he is a highly intelligent chap, very well educated and spoken with a glorious singing voice which he has wrecked with drink and smoking....he used to sing in the local nighclubs....it is so sad to see him now.

Cuppa tea time, the smell from the kitchen is driving me mad........

  • Hi & Hugs,

Done my marathon walk - left the house at 10am and got back just before 3!

Got everything for Twinks Hob Nobs but the oats :doh:so back to Mr T tomorrow for me.

I got back just in time as my brother had just phoned (DH was home from work) to say he would be round in 10 minutes to drop my birthday pressie off! Cue quick tidy up.

DH and DD are now fast asleep whilst tea cooks - trying DH on carrot and swede mash - adventurous for him doesn't like veg.

It's started raining here and the washing I hung out this morning is wet again. That reminds me I need to put DD sleeping bag in the TD for tonight - nappy disaster this morning.
