There was a range of prices, along with the all-day parking. My Father In Law who parked there doesn't have the best sight and only put £6.20 in by mistake.
The time it ran out is clearly marked on the ticket, but they didn't think to check as they were under the assumption they had put the correct amount in the machine.

The car arrived around 9.30/10am and was there until after 3pm. The ticket was issued around 1pm.

I think you should go and take a picture of the signage and the notice on the ticket machine, let us see what is said

Then upload to a free hosting site like photobucket and link on here using hxxp and not http, we will convert it.

I appreciate all your help so far.
  • I notice a refund slot on the machine , after printing out the ticket for £4 , did it refund £2.20?

    upto 2 hrs =£2
    upto 3 hrs =£4

you therefore paid for 5 hrs parking , with a recept that shows £6.20

where is the loss they have made?

There was no refund. The machine accepted £6.20 but only gave 3 hours parking.
  • the signage clearly states

    upto 2 hrs =£2
    upto 3 hrs =£4

you paid just over £6 and that entitles you to 5 hrs parking

You're saying that because I paid £6.20, I should be entitled to a combination of 3 hours & 2 hours to take it to the 5 hour mark?

Even though the ticket set the expiry time at the 3 hour mark?

It is what you need to argue.
