I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.

The situation you describe, of such a small number in a group of young adults having married parents still together, is unusual. Its not the norm. If you were to gather several random samples of 23 adults under 35 you would not find those results repeated very often. You would generally find more people with married parents.

My 16 year old says the majority of her friends parents are not married (many do live with a married couple but that tends to be a second relationship) apparently her friends think it's 'cool' she has parents under 40 who are married to each other

Is the fact that so many couples don't marry the reason the divorce rate is going down? If so statistics show unmarried couples with children are far more likely to split up than married couples with children.

And yet all my daughters close friend's parents are married, to each other. Unfortunately though most of us fail on the 'under 40' category, we're all late 40's early 50's.;)

I have noticed, especially amongst the girls, that those that seem to be getting into trouble with drinking, staying out and boys are those that come from a dysfunctional family.

Statistics also show that couples who cohabit for a length of time before getting married are less likely to divorce.

I always like to buck the trend.

First marriage: Cohabited for 12 years and the marriage lasted less than a year.

Second marriage: My wife moved in three days after we were married and we are still together over eight years later.

I do wonder how the statistical info is gathered as there seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest the exact opposite.

I also don't see the point in renewing a vow that hasn't been broken - but I also wouldn't criticise people who wanted to do it. Each to their own. I would be up for a big party to celebrate a "significant" anniversary though.

Theres no way of putting right a vow thats been broken anyway. The deed has been done.

I think that is why people 'renew them.' Because they have been broken.

Although it seems that some people do it just to celebrate a milestone anniversary. (Don't understand why, but each to their own.) :)
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
