Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. Its been lovely to see some de-lurkers and some newcomers; do please post even if it's just to say 'list completed'

Thank you Natty for last week's thread.

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Here Goes This week...

Manic Monday - Let's start with the lounge!

Level 1
Hopefully we are completely de-christmassed!
Open the window even if only for five minutes
Empty the bin
Give the sofas and seats the once over - leather wipe or a just-damp cloth to move any marks
Lift and swap cushions and seat pads - vacuum underneath before replacing any
Rinse and squeeze out the cloth and wipe sockets, switches and door handles

Level 2
Dust all surfaces - don'[t forget the skirting boards
Give light fittings a dust, too
Check ceilings, covings etc for cobwebs - especially if you had a real tree!

Level 3
Vacuum the floor
Polish the windows
Plump up cushions
Make sure that nothing is in here which doesn't live here
Don't forget dailies - S&S in the kitchen and bathroom

Extras

HHI
Make sure your new 2017 diary and/or calendar are up to date with birthdays and key dates (insurance renewal, MOT etc)
Make sure your freezer inventory is up-to-date post christmas
If you need to replace anything have a list - some brilliant bargains around now - I bought a 500ml pyrex jug for a bargain price in Wilk0 today! It's a good time to buy new sheets and towels too.
Make sure you have all the birthday cards etc you need for the month!

Terrific Tuesday - bathing beauties

Level 1
Damp cloth in hand, wipe all switches and door handles
Scrub the toilet(s) and spritz with bleach
Wipe the outside with hot water, a cloth and detergent - don't forget those places you cant actually see
Empty bins
Polish mirrors and wipe windows

Level 2
Clean baths and shower cubicles
wash shower curtains or wipe screens
Wipe the panels
Polish taps

Level 3
Clean hand basins
Make sure there's plenty of soap for handwashing - essential to keep bugs at bay
Change the towels and mats
Mop floors
Wipe loo roll holders

Extras
Check through all those cosmetics, potions and lotions - if they are gathering dust be ruthless and get rid! Unused/unwanted can go to food banks/chazzer.
Wash toothbrush holders and toothmugs
Clean out the cabinets, wipe shelves and put stuff back neatly.
HHI

and (thanks cowboymum)
15 minute challenge
If you are fed up of clutter then it needs a home. Spend 15 minutes removing everything you don't want in a room from that room. Now that the room looks better be critical about what you have taken out. If you need it find it a forever home, if you don't fling it. If you haven't space for a forever home for it then something else has gotta go to make room. Houses don't have elastic walls and hoarders we are not!

Wonderful Wednesday - kitchen kapers

Level one

Clear the sides and wipe them down
Put back only what lives there - having wiped it first!
Wipe handles, sockets and switches
Clear and clear the table

level 2

Wipe all cupboard and drawer fronts
Give chairs the once over wipe them or polish them
Clean the table mats/wipe or replace cloth

Level 3
Wipe all the windows inc sills
Dust the dusty places
Clean the floors

EXTRAS
Your 15 minute challenge - Pick a grotty cupboard or drawer, empty it. Wipe out the cupboard/drawer then put back anything that you're keeping, neatly.
Binbag dance around the whole house...
Empty the fridge and clean it out

Thrilling Thursday

Hall, stairs, landing

Level one

Beat, vacuum or wash doormats
Clean windows and mirrors
Wipe switches and sockets

Level two
Dust, wipe or polish banisters and rails
Clear out detritus
Vacuum all floors or mop inc stairs

Level 3
Wash down front door inside and out
Dust ant furniture in these rooms

Many thanks for the list - I'm in please and will do what I can but am expecting to be busy with paid stuff as am helping cover for someone who normally works full time but is off.

Dizzy good luck with DH being off the week! My DH has an interview on Tuesday after losing his job last May so I've got really used to having him around.

MinnieMousesMummy hope you feel better soon.

    I'm in - thank you Valli :A

Met another one of Dad's cousins for the first time today and sat and chatted with him, Dad and one other cousin for nearly four hours! :D

Not a lot of flying but did WM x 1 (another one here who does an extra spin to help the drying at this time of year), a big Mr T shop, S&S in kitchen and bathroom, and added 2 things to the charity pile.

Thank you Valli and Natty for the lists.

I can't say that I have done much flying recently, having spent all day Thursday and most of Friday at the hospital with DH - but over this weekend I did manage to write my piece for church, cook a roast dinner with leftovers, make soup for supper, deliver about 150 leaflets along our road and the closes off it for our SW group, and take down all the Christmas decorations including the outside lights which DH (who is about a foot taller than me) had put up high. The Christmas tree is packed away in the loft, but the decorations and lights still need to be sorted and, if possible, rehoused in the utility on top of the wall cupboards - I need to reorganise our small under-the-eaves loft to make it easier to get things in and out. Also, the washing and shopping are up to date and I took the indoor holly decorations to the tip on my way home from church today. But tomorrow we have to be at the horse piddle again by 9.00 for DH to have more tests, scans and needles, and I have a routine check at the GP surgery at 17.45, so I doubt that I shall get much done in between! College term starts again on Tuesday, which means that there is reading to be done too.

Sorry I haven't got the time or energy atm to post many comments on other Flyposts. Thank you for all the hugs and GWS vibes, and (((hugs))) to all of you in return x

    Thanks for the list Valli

You are right about the good bargains around. I saw those jugs in wilkos. Once I get a room to how I want it I am buying something new to go in it. Today I got a hall runner and door mat plus another mat for back door, all for £11 (Argos sale)

I am in this week, it will be the last week until I take a break for 3-4 weeks :(

I have to cover extra at paid stuff when others in the department are off and colleagues have booked back to back holidays. I am dreading it, it gets really busy and stressful trying to get everything done (at work and home) plus no child free time is exhausting :o This is why I have given myself a year to sort out house so I can take time out for periods without getting all stressed and worried that I am not achieving fast enough.
