becuase what they are doing is not legal

Maybe not but is using codes knowing they havent been sent to you legal?

If its genuine then I would definitley argue the point but if I was caught out using codes I didnt get personally then its 'some you win some you lose' surely.

i'm not saying dont bother I'm just pointing out that some people might end up having to pay out more in costs etc than the voucher was in the first place so act with care.

It doesn't matter whether the codes were sent to you or not. Once the goods are dispatched, the T&Cs do not matter. The contract is formed and the supplier is legally bound to provide the goods at the agreed price. Both Derbyshire TS and the Direct Marketing Association are backing the consumer on this. Littlewoods are clearly in the wrong and they know it.

  • Ive just recieved my littlewoods statement and an earlier code i used has been credited as i returned the goods.

I've been looking at the BBC articles. Question... in one article it says that 3,000 people used the code that weren't supposed to. But another article says
Littlewoods says that the voucher was sent out as a flyer to a specific group of about 78,000 account holders as a gift for any inconvenience caused by the retailer's simplification of its data base

If they sent the code to 78,000 people, probably half of them used it? So what does 3,000 other people really matter?

If they did it, they should have done this within the period where you could have returned it items. I'm sure 2 months is more than this period. So, you do have a point here!

I only once bought a good from Littlewood catalog and got £15 discount!
But in future I'll think twice before using them!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

You are right - I can't believe how petty they are being. Assuming that all the 78k people that were sent this code used it, this would mean a total discount of about £2 million! Compare this to the £75k that the 3000 people stacked up, it's neither here nor there!
  • 3 months ago i bought a £29 child scooter, -£25 = £4 for a scooter not bad i thought.
1 month ago i got the letter saying i was not entitled to the voucher and would have to pay £25.
    i said no way
now i have been sent a letter for £37
this is the £25 and a £12 handling fee.

    what is my next move.
i only wanted to bag a bargain scooter for my little boy.
its been sat in top cupboard for christmas.

    what to do now

I don't think LW have any stores now TBH... I would suggest you have a few options. If you are up for a fight, sign up to http://www.geteven.biz and fill in the online form there. In conjunction with this you need to write to them and say that you are disputing the amount and that whilst the account is in dispute, they cannot legally add any further charges to your account. You can also get in touch with Consumer Direct and your local Trading Standards, but I doubt they will be much use.
  • AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Sorry about that but just had a second email from Littlewoods. I emailed them to tell them i was disputing my account and in the circumstances can they confirm no further charges will be added. Got a reply saying "voucher wasnt sent to you blah blah". Sent another email asking again for confirmation no further charges would be added as the matter is in dispute. The reply i just got obviously came from India judging by the grammar "please confirm when you written letter to Head Office". Also said "we are under no circumstances refunding the £25". The annoying thing is it started off with "Thank you for shopping with Littlewoods" and finished with "We hope
to see you online again soon". Are they mental?
So any ideas what I should do? Amount is due 4th November, what if they wont confirm no further charges will be added? Did write today to Head Office but unfortunately didnt have time to send recorded delivery.
