Okay i admit to being one of those scared to fight, so I just paid off the £25 and asked to close my account. However, this morning I receive a letter saying they have checked my account and i owe a further £50.41 due to vouchers I have used in the past (over about 2 years), and the balance is due immediately. I know that most of these vouchers I used over the 2 years I did receive personally, and now I don't know what to do, I already have a lot of stressful situations going on in life at the moment and I could do without another one.

OMG I can't believe this, what the hell are they playing at!!

I ordered a phone from Marshall Ward, I am a new customer & they initially accepted the discount code but I noticed that they didn't stick to that & have taken the full amount from my bank account. I always thought new customers could quite legitimately receive a discount?

Bit worrying that any of these companies can take from our bank accounts whenever the mood strikes them!

still waiting for the phone though..

I have seen an item on the Littlewoods website that I would really like. I don't think it will be available anywhere else. I have also seen a £15 off your first order code in a magazine. Having found this thread by coincidence and having read some parts of it, I am now unsure whether to order from them using the code. I don't intend to order from them a lot, so I might just use the code and keep the page from the magazine FOREVER...

That's outrageous!!!! snakeeyes21 on hotukdeals had the same thing and threatened them with Small Claims Court. They soon backed down after that! Let me assure you that what they have done/are trying to do is completely illegal and you should tell them to do one. Cancel your DD, inform them that you will not be paying and that you are placing the amount in dispute (by recorded delivery). Also, get in touch with You and Yours (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/youandyours/youandyours_contact.shtml) - this is programme I was on and I am sure they will be extremely interested in your story! Why not send it Watchdog also?

I see you have joined www.geteven.biz - good move! :) Whatever you do, don't stress about it. Any charges they apply are illegal, as are the extra amounts for the cancelled vouchers. They don't have a leg to stand on - we'll get it sorted eventually!!!

Oh, one final thing, could you fill in this form on geteven please?

    Cheers

    Tim

err sorry but can I ask what you have to do with geteven.biz as every post you do promotes it. or are you personally guaranteeing that people will win against Littlewoods and get their money back if they pay up?

and are you actually taking Littlewoods to court yourself or just pushing everyone else to do it? Perhaps everyone should wait for the outcome of your own case to see what happens.

You obviously haven't been following this thread very closely. Just by clicking on the link to geteven.biz, it is clear that NTM is a moderator there. He has made no attempt to hide the connection. In many of his posts, he also refers to "we" at geteven. Your post implies that he has been doing something underhand.

NTM might be pushing this matter a little hard, but there is no need for you to be quite so confrontational. He seems to be trying to drum up some enthusiasm for standing up to Littlewoods and provide a forum for similar people to engage with eachother.

Have you done anything to help those who've been charged?
  • Its hit the national papers!

A small article on page 33 of todays Sunday Mirror:

    DISCOUNT TOKENS BLUNDER

Littlewoods have been inundated by thousands of bargain hunters after botching a cut price promotion.

Shoppers snapped up their £25 off tokens after the codes to access discounts were widely distributed across the internet.

Now the catalogue store have stunned customers by demanding back the £75,000 in online vouchers which they claim were used without permission.

The company say they were only intended for specific account holders and want the money back from 3000 'ineligible' customers.

A company spokesman said "We stand by the decision to reclaim the money. The discount code was circulated without authorisation. We have recharged this discount back to their accounts"
