No, it's happening because Littlewoods have screwed up.

I worked for a very large retailer for many years and I can tell you that they have intelligence departments to monitor these things, and computer systems which can easily provide information on how many people are using these codes. I could easily write code to extract that information from a database in minutes.

All retailers know this goes on. And they're still sending out codes... I wonder why....

That it's supposedly taken LW so long to notice that this has cost them so much money and their inefficiency means that people no longer have the ability to return the goods is completely down to LW. I think it's the length of time this has taken which makes their actions unreasonable.

The fact that they're getting heavy and barging in with admin charges when people are querying their actions is PR suicide and is it really worth it for the sum of money involved?
  • I Also used a code 3 mnths ago for a first order and havent heard anything yet.

Maybe I will be ok as it was a first order but its put me off using them again anyway.

I'll wait fo Martin and the MSE gang to say what they've achieved. At least I know who they are.

I agree with you jessicar. Suicide for Littlewoods and the rest of the catalogues they own. I'm sure we all agree that the time it has taken them to chase any codes is very wrong and charging admin fees is disgusting.

I think they may well have to back down over this sooner or later with a huge loss of business and its ironic that they have chosen this time of year to to all this.

I just wish Martin had stepped in a little sooner though.

We know why its going on. People have used codes that werent sent to them. I've used codes from here myself and as they say 'there but for the grace of .......

I'm not being nasty I simply asked why one person is promoting a site so much. It certainly rings alarm bells when this happens and its not Martin or MSE thats doing it.

I hope no-one has to pay a penny. I'm sure Martin will do all that he can but obviously you feel that you must stick up for some-one who cant answer a simple question (and I asked since I dont know the answer) and gets all defensive when asked one lol.

    x

Guarantees - I have made none to the effect that state I personally will get people their money back. I have made claims that what LW are doing are illegal and that should this come to court (either as part of class action or Small Claims), that people would win because of the illegality of what LW were doing.

To this end, myself and a few other set up geteven to try and get enough of us together that had been affected by this and take LW to court as part of a class action. The aims of this were twofold - to get people their money back, but more importantly, to ensure this doesn't happen again with LW or any other retailer as what LW are doing affects EVERY online transaction that has ever been completed using a voucher code.

If you had bothered to read up on any of my posts or actually get off your backside and do a little research on the subject (the information is quite freely available in the Business section on BBC News online), then you would already know that I will not be taking LW to court as they have given me a refund. My purpose in all of this is not "attention seeking" but to try and help others in the same situation and offer advice (which I have to say has been of a much higher standard than the tripe that you seem to be capable of producing) where I can. If people choose to take that advice, that is up to them.

Why? Have I been trying to coerce people into parting with money? Have I been hush hush with the intentions of the site and what we intend to do with the information we get on there? I think you will find the answer is, err "No". Again, if you had actually bothered to do some reading instead of posting the first bit of rubbish that came into your head, then you would know what my connections to the site were and what we were/are attempting to do, as jessicar pointed out.

Do these answers satisify you, or will you expect me to answer more questions whose answers are freely available to anyone that can actually be bothered to read up on the subject before posting?

    BTW kaz1, I am a "He"

Those of us who have been in touch with N_T_M are very grateful for his help.......................not sure what's driving Hilary, she hasn't bought, using the code, and has nothing useful to say?!?
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.
  • Just realised I actually bought from Littlewoods Direct which I'm not sure is chasing any of this. I've had a statement which is right so I hope all is ok with my account.

On another note, I wonder why you are all against anyone who asks questions. This 'mesiah' chap is being very rude to hilary1 if you read his remarks.

Get off your backside??? whats all that about? Totally unecessary behaviour and makes him look slightly deranged.

I thought the whole idea of MSE was for ANYONE to ask a question if they had one to ask.

Is any of this code thing affecting any other catalogue run by Littlewoods - before I order anything from them.

I don't want to get into a "she started it" type affair, but read this post and tell me how you interpret it please. Myself and others on this thread took this to mean that there was something sinister and underhand in what I was doing. Personally, I don't like suggestions like this, which is why have gone on the defensive and am fighting my corner.

All the answers to the questions she asked are available in this thread and other areas on the net that have been referenced in this thread. Given that she posts on this fairly frequently, then IMHO, she is more than capable of reading these sources for herself. As it stands, she lazily posted the above without doing this.

It still is, I just don't like people making suggestions to the effect that my actions are somehow underhand and are doing people a disservice.

AFAIK, I think the main culprit ATM is LW - there was someone on HUKD that had 8 (count 'em) codes cancelled, but I am not sure if they were all for LW or not... Ar here it is: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1033674&postcount=105

Thank you tiamara for that information. I think I'll give the catalogue buying a miss untill it all get sorted out.

And thank you not-the-mesiah for your promt reply. I must learn how to add quotes from posts to my own when replying to some-one. However I have read your link and personally I cant see why you've taken such an exception. She might seems to be slightly abrupt but honest in her approach. I really dont think it was meant how you have interpreted it as it asks if you are involved with a web site and if this whole sorry affair affects you personally, from what I can see. Let us all stop making a mountain out of a molehill. I must admit that I started reading this thread from only a page back or I'd never have got to the end.

And good luck to all of you involved in this mess.
