After getting fed up with Littlewoods automated replies I asked for a more personal one:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding your enquiry,

We can advise that you did enter into a contract with us when you placed your order. You ticket the terms and conditions to say that they were read and understood by your self before you submitted your order. Therefore if they were read and understood you should have been aware that the promotion you used was "not issued to you personally from us" and that you "do not comply terms of the offer and qualify for the Code". Therefore as advised "In the event that the Code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted notwithstanding any email or other confirmation that you receive." Therefore this charge to your account has been applied due to the contract that you entered with us.

Thank you for assisting us in our policy for safe and secure shopping.

    Kind Regards

I really don't want to pay these £25 because I think that what they are doing is illegal. But I am really worried about what can happen if I don't pay it before 15th of October. Can anyone please clarify what are the rules here in the UK? What kind of problems can I have?

Btw, is it possible to return the items after 2months? I have worn any of the 4 towels I bough but the packaging of one is open. Can I still return 4 towels or can I just return 3?

    Many thanks!
Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one :))! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.

    What I achieved:
    Car paid in full straightaway.
    Two properties fully paid. Wohhoooo!

OK, check how many times this thread has been read - at the time of this posting, it's over 10,000 times; there are people here that don't visit HotUKDeals and vice versa - a thread about this on HotUK has been read over 30,000 times.

Now, some of the people involved will just pay up, some will fight then pay up - and then there are those, like me, that will go to litigation. Not because I have nothing better to do, but because, apparently, Littlewoods knew this time last year that they had a problem with codes and have not addressed the issue so, in the eyes of a court, are in a situation of their own making that cannot be construed as unexpected.

It's a fallacy that all publicity is good publicity - at the very least Littlewoods are going to come out of this looking like an inadequate, 2 bit bunch of amateur cowboys. We all know the BBC programme that LOVES those stories about retailers! ;)
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.

Their (Littlewoods) website states "I accept the terms and conditions" - you have to tick this box before you can progress with your order. Whilst I do accept they have terms and conditions, and tick the box to acknowledge same - I do not necessarily agree with them. The wording on their web site should read " I accept AND AGREE to the terms and conditions. Do not pay .

  • Just recieved this reply though there e-mail service

Thank you for your email about the recent charge on your account.

I am sorry but our records show you were not eligible for the promotional discount applied to your order. Terms and conditions apply as listed below:

2.3 Where you have redeemed a promotional code or any other offer ("a Code") against your order, acceptance of this order is subject to our verifying that the Code has been issued to you personally, that you comply with all the terms of the offer and qualify for the Code. In the event that the Code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted not withstanding any email or other confirmation that you receive.

This decision is final and will not be changed under any circumstances.

    Kind regards
    Emma Bower

Just a question-how many people complaining here did actually have the codes ISSUED TO THEM PERSONALLY?
