  • Something funny going on....placed an order with great universal using the £10 off code, has been refused...placed an order with additions direct with no code.....automatically accepted! Have credit available on both and none of my accounts are in arrears....

i'm having the same problem as everyone else, received a statement saying i owed money from the voucher i used in july, tried several times to call, spoken to several rude people, waited 3 times for a manager to call me back, contacted local trading standards office who seem to think they are covered by their clause 2.3 and can do what they are doing, what do i do now?! cant speak to trading standards til monday, payment due on 15th and although i'm adament i'm not paying i'm worried about inucrring late payment fees and ending up owing more!.....help!!

oh and forgot to say...i got the code via an email from a friend (did the rounds i think) and when they asked where i got it from i said i couldnt remember that far back, probably from junk mail/a magazine/spam email. trading standards say they could back me up if i had a letter personally offering me the code. i've signed an authorisation for trading standards to work on my behalf but now thinking maybe i would have been better sending a letter/email myself...

Late payment fees are ONLY chargeable where you are running a credit account. How did you pay for the goods ? - if you paid using a credit or debit card Littlewoods will try to move you over to a credit account and then try to charge the £12 late payment fee. The fee ONLY applies to credit account customers, you can refer THEM to their t & c's

i paid using my credit card, i had to create an account though as it was the 1st time i ordered through them...would this be a credit account?
  • No it wouldn't. Beware though - Littlewoods will add £12 to your account but of course they can't do that !!

Does anyone know if you have to sign any paperwork when you open a credit account with a catalogue? Can they really add charges to an account that i have not opened?

I think what will happen is that Littlewoods will put pressure on this site as did Sainsburys and Redoute and codes will no longer allow to be posted! I can't remember exactly the Sainsburys but I think Sainsbury's threatened legal action, I am sure some other MSE will remember the full story.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

Are trading standards aware that some people are getting the voucher re~honoured due to a "mistake" ? As surely now they have set a precedent.

This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.
