littlewoods: only use codes that are sent to you!

It begs the question: What are Littlewoods going to do ?.
If you bought items using a code (which they come back after 2 months and say you shouldn't have used) and bought either by debit or credit card, there is no action for you the customer to take. Littlewoods can ask for the value of the code in reimbursement. If you decline to answer their correspondence and decline to pay, are they going to persue the amount (£25) through to the County Court - I very much doubt it. There is more of a problem for those that bought using the codes and had the goods added to either a new Littlewoods store credit account or an existing one. It won't be so easy to get the monetary value of the code credited back to your account as only Littlewoods can do that, and by most of the previous postings they don't feel inclined
If you paid via credit or debit card, sit tight and let Littlewoods take the next step.
Some that paid by debit/credit cards are now having the code value transfered to the Littlewoods "credit" account to which Littlewoods are adding a £12 late payment penalty (separate t's and c's apply to a credit account)- again they are operating outside their remit - but I don't think they realise that !!
Littlewoods will have to put in place a more robust software package to their ordering system if they wish to aleviate this problem as an ongoing issue. I read somewhere that certain of their customers had the same trouble over non-accepted codes over 12 months ago, so they can hardly bleet they didn't know of the weakness in their system.
Seems to me they need to a) put in place a more robust software at point of ordering and b) re-word their t's&c's so as to make abuse of codes a thing of the past.
Good Luck everyone0 -
I ordered some white goods from Great Universal. I used a discount code which I found on hotukdeals. The code was accepted by the system and the confirmation page at the end showed the discount and it was also confirmed in an e-mail.
Now I got the goods and use them, GU doesn't want to honour the code because they say it was for clothing. My argument was that they should have let me know before giving me the items which I am using now and therefor cannot return.
Further the price they charge me now is £10 more and a discount for buying the two items together has also not been given. I made a copy of the screenprint and kept that fortunately.
Does anybody know whether they can do all this and if not, where I should go to claim my discount?
I just received an e-mail from GU, they again say that the code was for clothing. Also, they put up the prices for the items I bought but on my confirmations it states the prices that were on the website and at the time I printed the page on the website with the price I was quoted. I accepted the products whilst I was under the impression that it would cost me a certain price and now they change that willy nilly. I did buy the products with one of their accounts for personal reasons. I want to take it further but should I also contact an organisation?0 -
I have just had a call from the Littlewoods customer care/complaint department and have been told that their legal team have been taking advice on this issue since last Friday. They have now confirmed that what they are doing is legal and are being backed up by their local Trading Standards. We are however within our rights if we wish to seek a second legal opinion.
Letters are going to be sent out to customers stating this.
Basically it sounds that unless we can prove that we are one of the "select few" customers who received this code legitimately, we are not entitled to have used this code and they are within their rights to charge the voucher value to us.
I did argue that I paid by debit card and therefore should not have an account but apparently accounts are opened after a first purchase no matter how you pay as they are a catalogue company and that is how catalogue websites all operate.
Unfortunately it looks like we will have to pay this unless we are prepared to put up a real fight. Knowing that their local Trading Standards have given them the green light to continue with this makes me wonder whether a fight with Littlewoods would be worth the effort
All I know is that I will never buy anything from Littlewoods or any of their other companies ever again. Hopefully other people will do the same.0 -

Yes its true that you get an account but that is only so you can track your order and check your address e.t.c
All websites have a 'My account' section but what is important is that people who have placed an order with a credit/debit card have not opened a 'Littlewoods Credit account' which basically involves you getting a credit check and it works like store accounts/credit card.
I sent a letter on Friday by courier to head office so hopefully I will get a response from them soon!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

You will not very soon as you may get a letter from them. You can also check by signing into your account and it shows the £25 voucher cancellation!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

I received a phone call from Littlewoods collections department this morning advising that my account was in arrears. Although they've added the £25 to my balance this was after my last statement was issued to me. The last statement I received showed my balance as 0.00 yet they've phoned me to chase arrears. When I told the woman there was nothing on my last statement she checked into my account. She said that when they did the £25 adjustment they've put it through as arrears automatically (presumably because the order was placed in July). She told me not to worry about it and just pay when my statement comes in but as I've now ordered goods and have a balance on my account I need to pay the £25 plus whatever the minimum payment is for the goods ordered.
Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone has a similar problem.0 -
I've just checked my account online and they've reduced my credit limit from £1000 to £150 (balance outstanding). Take it that means I'm not allowed to order anymore. I haven't missed any payments so it must be because of the £250
