Any new codes anyone?? :rotfl:
Not good news really, these codes have been a 'God-send', have checked my account and no probs so far - they upped my limit last night too!Young, happy but bogged down with a mortgage!0 -
It looks like we are in for a fight on this one, I think we all need to hold our nerve and not give in to them! Does anyone know which Trading Standards Littlewoods are dealing with?0
-
You usually have to deal with the trading standards in your own location as they are a local service. Is L'woods Liverpool?0
-
Couldn't it be argued that what Littlewoods did was to entice us to buy goods at reduced prices and then haul in the money at a later date? I think what lets their case down is that the code was accepted at the time of purchase and that not every code is accepted. There is often a little box that says you haven't met the requirements or the code cannot be used. It should have said it with the £25.00 code if it wasn't open to everyone.0

I have spoken to my local trading standards (edinburgh) who have told me there is no case to answer - it is clearly in thier T&Cs that they will "adjust" the price if you have used a code not issued to you.
I tried the angle that due to the delay in advising the additional charge I could no longer return the items - TS did not think this made any difference.
I have been an active littlewoods customer for 15 years so tried the old "honest mistake, long standing customer, loyalty" etc approach with littlewoods but recieved short shrift.
Littlewoods informed me that they had a "hugh backlog of thousands" of vouchers to cancel - I think this will happen to everyone eventually...
Sorry not to have better news !0 -
Are they claiming back only the £25 vouchers used or all vouchers e.g. £10 voucher that was also posted on here?0

I have also just had an email from Bristol Trading Standards and they agree with Edinburgh...
Here is part of the email:
The terms and conditions of the company will be relevant and it will be deemed that you have read and agreed to these. Therefore if these terms and conditions state that the price of the order will be adjusted should it be found that you were not entitled to use the promotional code, then this term could be applied. There is no dispute over title to the goods so this is not relevant. The dispute is concerning the consideration in the contract - that is - the amount of money that should be paid. The company is stating that you were not entitled to the discount.
In order for TS to take this up on my behalf I need to show that I was entitled to the voucher. As I got it from MSE, I have to agree with them that this voucher was not intended for my use. Littlewoods should know who was entitled to the voucher, so I am not going to now suddenly pretend that it was sent to me from them. Some of you may have better luck doing this though!
The email from TS also states that "An account will automatically be set up in your name when you purchase from most mail order companies" - therefore Littlewoods are within their right to do so. We cannot argue this point either.
Oh well, looks like I am going to pay up, close my account and never purchase anything from Littlewoods or their affiliated stores ever again.
Best of luck to those of you who plan to continue fighting this. What cannot be argued is that Littlewoods customer service must be one of the worst in this country and they have some of the rudest staff!!!0 -
But is it reasonable and acceptable for LW to come back after 2 months and try to claim the additional monies. Indeed, why wait 2 months - what happened between the date of order and the date when they tried to claw back monies ?.
LW should have been aware of this problem at an early stage and given customers an opportunity of proceeding with their order at the revised price, rather than waiting 2 months and going out with their begging bowl.0 -

I completely agree with you that what Littlewoods are doing is unreasonable. If this happeed last year and they have failed to sort out their computer system then that makes it even worse.
The problem is that they are legally within their rights to demand the voucher value back. Without them having any legal backing we could have argued our case and not paid but as it now stands we cannot do this.
The staff at Littlewoods have been told what to say to any customer that phones up and tries to argue their case. I have spoken to a very rude person called Roger and he would not budge on this issue and kept talking over me. They will not back down and as this has been cleared by their legal department and TS we now have little hope of not having to pay up.
Lets just hope that Littlewoods lose a lot of customers over their handling of this fiasco.0 -
