i've still not had any of the 3 managers who promised to ring me back last week call...my trading standards are as much help as littlewoods were....they got me to sign an authorisation form so they could act on my behalf...promised to contact liverpool trading standards and look into it further last friday, i rang her on friday (no answer), twice on monday and she promised to call me back straight away that day after speaking to them. she kept repeating that if i could prove where i got the code from she might be able to help but they are covered by thier terms and conditions, i kept repeating i couldnt remember, either from an email or from junk mail. so i'm binning them as a write off. i'm really worried about the looming payment due date of 15th, dont have time with the postal strike to write to them and wait for a reply and dont want to get extra late payment charges added... my friend thinks i should write a letter of complaint, tell them just how cr*p and unfair they are being and offer to pay £1 a week (by cheque) until its paid. surely they cant dismiss an offer of payment?
what is everyone else doing who have next monday as payment due date?
  • A manager was supposed to call me back too but hasnt, i dont even owe the blooming money!!!!
    'They only had one cow!'
  • I have rang littlewoods twice about the £25 charge, the second phonecall was to say I could not afford to pay, the rude lady I spoke to kept informing me that by paying in small installments my credit rating would be affected. Just wondered if anyone knows if this true.

    Thanks

  • I like many on this site have been affected by Littlewoods cancelling a voucher I used online 2 months after they accepted it. I phoned them to complain and get the amount refunded but with no success from a very rude and unhelpful customer services 'lady'. I have a letter to post to them and have emailed today. However today the post arrived!!! Amongst my post was a generic letter from Littlewoods saying:

    Dear Mrs *****

According to our records the following promotional code, ZQ310, was used to give £25 discount off a recent order.

Sadly your account is ineligible to receive this particular discount which was created for a small group of specific customers to thank them for their patience during a recent account migration programme we undertook.

As a result, in accordance with clause 2.3 of our online terms & conditions we have re-charged this discount back to your account. This will appear on your next statement.

We are aware that such codes circulate the internet and customers can on occassion inadvertently use a code to which they are ineligible.

If you have any queries regarding your account or would like to discuss what finance options are available to you to spread the cost of payments, please call 08705 22 66 77.

    Kind regards

    Angela Evans
    (Customer Manager)

    My question is this...

Given the content of this letter and that some people may have used this voucher without realising they were not eligible, is this a battle worth fighting?

My understanding is that if the amount is not paid by the payment date you would then be in arrears by one month (scoring 1 on your account info for your littlewoods account info with credit reference agencies). This could ultimately affect your credit rating.

If we are in the right and have every reason to fight this and win, then why don't we pay the outstanding amount (with a letter stating that the amount is in dispute) and go through some formal process to claim it back.

I myself am going to take this route or arrange return of the items and cancel my account.

I did this with Empire, went through Trading Standards as well, and won in the end! Took 2 months, and was threatened with court action, but truth and right prevail!

    Did what?

Here is a reply that somebody got off littlewoods over at HUKD. Who's going to be the first to ring Sandra Malloy in the morning??????

    Quote:
    Dear Mr Hill

Thank you for your e-mail concerning your account with Littlewoods.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have been caused. I was extremely concerned to learn about your experience of poor service, clearly this is not acceptable. The service you received falls short of the high standards we would expect and normally achieve.

May I take this opportunity to confirm that the administration charge £12.00 has been removed. There has been two adjustments been credited to your account of £40.88 and ££6.30.

Should you wish to call me to discuss the above matter, please don't hesitate to call me on 01204 873 824. I shall be only too pleased to help you.

    Yours Sincerely
    Sandra Malloy

Does this claiming back of discounts apply to customers who paid via flexible account or does it apply to those of us who paid using cc/debit card equally? Would it be wise to close my account before they can apply the charge to my account?

Good question! I am confused about this issue too because I didn't open a credit account either. It was my first order and I simply registered my account details only. I paid by credit card. I don't see how Littlewoods can add an additional £25 charge for a cancelled voucher and threaten to impose late payment charges when I don't have a credit account with them. Surely they can't open an account for me without my agreement? I would appreciate advice and comments.

This has been mentioned before, apparently they are quite within their rights to do so.

Thanks losgiganteskid for your reply. You mention in one of your earlier posts that according to Littlewoods t&cs they are not allowed to impose late charges or transfer you to a credit account if you paid by credit card. I would appreciate if you could help point me to which clauses in the t&cs address this issue. I'm too dumb and can't find it!
