@GeorgianaCavendish & @WinterWarrior it was so nice to be out. I drove so stuck to coke but made up for it with a pudding.

Hot tub not up yet but is in the garden. Seriously the instructions are in gobbledegook.  I've watched a YouTube video a million times on how to do it but just too busy with work to stop and do it. I'm getting very stressed! I've just sat for half an hour in front of the tv with a coffee just to calm down a bit.

  • Get MrM to assemble it, as he was so passionate about getting a hot tub!

@GeorgianaCavendish he's useless 😂 when we we're much younger he put together a very wonky CD case and I vowed never to let him near anything again!  He's good for lifting & shifting 😁.

Hot tub is now up, full of water and heating up.

@Naomim so sorry to hear about your dog.  Can you picture him on the Rainbow Bridge? Not sure what your views are but I do firmly believe that we are reunited with our pets; it's the interim we have to manage.   Remember what a happy life you gave him and be proud of that.  A memory box is a good idea. Love Humdinger x

@Humdinger1 thank you for your kind words. I also believe we are reunited. We collected his ashes today so it's been a bit of a tearful day.

@lucielle I hope you enjoyed it. I've only been in twice, just not my thing and I'm too lazy faffing about to get into & out of swimming cozzie 😂 MrM and kids in and out all the time!

I'm currently in the middle of doing my banking as realised it was almost a month I hadn't updated!

Finally finished updating YNAB today. Apparently I'm £900 over budget! I'm still learning so need to watch some more tutorials.

MrM is in the office tomorrow and my company are talking about a return in September.  If we do end up going back to normal that's £400 a month on travel.😥 But we knew that when we took jobs in central London for the higher wages.  Locally salaries are about £10k lower so compromises have to be made.

Been so busy at work today after a few days off but really enjoyed my few days. I got the front garden cut, a quick trip to Portsmouth to see my friend, half a day at Chessington World of Adventures and a cinema trip to see Peter Rabbit 2 with the 11yo.

We bought a gazebo to go over the hot tub, quite a heavy expensive one but we dont want to drill holes in the decking. This afternoon it took off with a gust of wind!😮 Luckily I was in the garden hanging out some washing so managed to grab hold of it whilst it was dangling over the neighbours fence. I've now ordered some weights but panicking it might go again. We've taken the weights off some of MrM's dumbbells he had in the garage so fingers crossed it will hold for now.

The 15yo has also been offered a job working for 10 days in an events kitchen at the end of June. It's in the Midlands and some kind of festival so will need to camp but I think he'll love it and get some good experience. He'll have turned 16 by then too. Good job I hadn't booked his birthday do as that's the day he starts.

I was also very excited to get two £2 coins on Saturday.  I was going great guns with the tin until lockdown. Now we barely use cash I hardly get any. My tin is almost full I'm so tempted to open it. I reckon there's got to be about £400 in there. This has taken about 3 years to fill though.

I hope everyone is safe and well.

After reading @WinterWarrior 's diary and other posters I have decided to get some premium bonds with my emergency fund.  Interest rates are so low, I may as well try my luck!

I'm getting my haircut tonight and eyes tested tomorrow.  I know I need new glasses as I have to keep taking them off to see any small print. I'd already earmarked some of my bonus for this expenditure and the haircut pot is looking very healthy after lockdown so all accounted for.

Our home insurance is also due so need to log on and check renewal quote and start comparing.

Weather is miserable here today. It hasn't stopped raining. I dont cope well with heat but don't like rain either 😬

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

  • Welcome to the Premium Bond club :) After lots of great advice from other MSE-ers, I moved my emergency fund there last month. It feels so much better having it ‘out of sight’!
