I’ve never been to Costco, sounds like I’ve been missing out 🙁 Are you sorted for your birthday now?

    @KajiKita I could...but probably won't! 🤣

@Sun_Addict I think for alcohol we might need some more and will definitely need soft drinks. MrM and I don't drink much and rarely at home so as long as 17yo keeps his mitts off, we should be ok. I have until November, just trying to be prepared.

This was my first trip too. Some things weren't cheaper, I was checking prices on Google 🤣

@WinterWarrior I will! I forgot I also bought a jar of couscous as I'm the only one who eats it.

I get my soft drinks via prime. Barr cases of 24 are between £7 and £8.95 depending on flavour. With free postage it’s cheaper than anything I can pick up locally, so it might be worth a look for your party? I’m rather hooked on the cream soda and the ginger beer, but they do lemonade too.

That's a good idea. I used to love Barr's cream soda but bought a can a little while ago and was unimpressed. Some things are best left in childhood 🤣

Just had a bit of a snip with MrM as my friend who lives quite far away rang to say hello be in the area so I've arranged to go and meet him. I've been to church this morning too so he's feeling a bit left out. He seems to think I drop everything when this friend calls me. Pointed out I don't see him often so when he's in the area I make the effort.  Told him this is what comes from him not having friends as he never makes an effort. He said it was a low blow. I countered with "truth hurts"

I would love more friends, so I don’t blame you for prioritising when you can. MrM could have gone to church too if he wants to spend time with you? Or is it more FOMO, rather than wanting to spend time with you? Generally as ‘marrieds’ spending time together is often in a different room or sat next to each other doing different things anyway 🙄

He wouldn't go to church. I went because it was a special occasion, I rarely go but its the church I was christened in,  confirmed, married and my parents funerals were held there. I sang in the choir until I was 18 and it has so many personal memories. My friend is from my youth, we met through church so he came too. All MrM and I were doing was going to his mum and dad's which we do a lot.

We just have very different lives and interests. His life is full of football, mine is seeing my friends.  Oh well. Life plods on.

Popping in quickly here as I am deflecting from something at work that needs morte brain power than I possess 😂

Updated the bank account after my weekend of spending. Transferred £263 from my savings account to cover the CostCo and Ikea purchases. I still need to get suitcases for the holiday which is only 29 days away! I can't even borrow from family as we are all going together and my friend who has a family and enough suitcases is also away at the same time. 😣

MiL paid me the balance of the holiday so I do need to put that back into the savings pot rather than leaving it sitting in our current account and getting eaten up.

I'm keeping a tally of the leaky spends out of the current account. £32 so far. This does include round-ups on the account.  ASlso keeping a record of MrM's spends. Not because I care what he spends his money on, but we each have monthly pocket money and he tells me he "never spends" his.  I think he never thought the lunches he bought when he's out should come out of his pocket money yet if I ever buy lunch, I use mine.  He's got £79 left. I currently have £52 left!  But I did spend £10 on the lottery yesterday as a bird pooped on me!

17yo has lost his wallet, I think it's in the house somewhere.... I know what he's like, but it means he's paying full fare on the buses at the moment instead of half price.  We only pay TFL prices but if I lived 5 mins in each direction he'd have had free travel until he was 18 as we'd be in Greater London rather than Surrey.

Well, I guess I better go and try and get my head around this thing. My customer has complained so I'm getting it in the ear!

    Keep well.

    Naomi

    Hi All,

So the spending this month hasn't seemed to have stopped and I've completely lost track. Most of it has been on holiday stuff, the hidden spends on suncream, shower gels, suitcases. And 17yo turned 18. Most of his gifts I had saved for but did get a couple extra.

Oh and my car has started to make a funny noise and booked into the garage for Weds. I have money saved but don't it will be enough as MrM's car has work done earlier in the year.

I'll be back on track next month...

Checking the credit card statements tomorrow. There's one in MrM's name I have to check on the computer.

Hope everyone is surviving the hot weather!

Well at least you'll have the suitcases for next time you go. Does your holiday budgeting need to be tweaked upwards a little for next time you go perhaps to take account of the things you're finding are creeping up on you now? Makes sense to revise things while it's all still fresh in the mind if so. We recently had to increase the amount we send to our holiday fund each month as with prices for things generally having increased over the past few years we were finding the amount we had allowed wasn't quite going to cut it!
