The temptation is real @canvascamper but the desire not to be in the overdraft at the end of the month should curb it!
It's been an NSD for me today. I've wfh and walked the dog. In the office tomorrow so will take lunch and I don't count travel costs as necessary evil which can't be avoided and all accounted for our of my Starling account.Credit Cards NOV 2019 £33,220.42 Sept 2023 £19,951.00 Tilly Tidy 20223/COLOR] Sept £43.71 Here's my diary: A Ditherer's Diary Again0 -

I actually remembered to bring my lunch in today and have had a free yogurt for breakfast (thanks office I work in). Also no stopping at the Costa two minutes from the office. Had a spare cooked baked potato at home from last night as MrM went to his parents to watch football so I'm hoping he might have that for lunch. Having said that, he's got today off so will probably treat himself.
MrM also paid, Monzo pots all filled up and bank account checked and spending/outward DD's etc all logged. Had £9 left over in fuel pot so going to pop that towards my tilly tidies which in turn will be a mortgage overpayment once the actual mortgage DD comes out. Remember having trouble last time and they deducted it from the next DD.
Hope everyone has a lovely Friday!
Keep well
Naomim

Happy Friday, have a lovely weekend. A leaky spending pot sounds like you’re saving for a plumber 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

4.45am and I am up as dog has staged a dirty protest 🤢 cleaned up, Yankee candle on and her bedding in the wash. A few months ago my poor washing machine was all blocked up with dog hair so I've bought some laundry bags to hopefully catch most of the hair.
Also a bit deflated as we had a very healthy savings pot thanks to bonuses. However I paid off all the holiday yesterday and hardly anything left. MrsM senior needs to pay me the balance of theirs and SiL's but she's already paid £2k and the balance I paid yesterday was far more than I thought it was going to be. Just a bit disappointed as we're hoping to get our bathroom replaced and now might not have enough our be on a super tight budget. I know it's first world problems and makes me sound like a spoilt brat.
Good news is yesterday was an NSD. Obviously over the past 18 months or so I hadn't counted then and got out of the habit. It was hard in the evening. Dropped 13yo and scouts and was so tempted to stop in the shop and buy some chocolate or something! I've agreed to meet a friend for a coffee on Sunday but that comes out of my personal spends.
Hoping to have an NSD today as plan a day of cleaning and tidying. I know how to live on the wild side!

I think you are doing well - I know how much effort it takes to get lunches etc ready in the evenings and you are having NSDs and there is a wee OP on the horizon … 😊 Celebrating the little wins with you that add up to the bigger goal 👏🎉🎊🤩😊
Do you know why the holiday balance was higher than you were expecting? Is it reasonable?

So sad about the savings, it really is hard not to hoard them when you have them, but the good news is you paid for a holiday without debt. That is something to be celebrated!I buy my chocolate in bulk, partly because I’ve no local shops, but there are bargains to be had. At the moment I am eyeing a box of 24 yorkies for £12, but am still working my way through some caramel Freddo’s which were £10 for 60 at the time. I usually have a selection in the fridge and cupboard if I feel the need 🤭Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I felt the same about using my emergency fund to pay for a car service even though it’s exactly why it’s there!! I instead did the bank switch with a burner account and used that instead! It’s really hard to spend savings isn’t it?Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2602

@KajiKita it was just my very poor memory that the holiday cost more! I have the memory of a goldfish! But thank you for reminding me of the small wins 🏆
@WinterWarrior I can't keep chocolate stashes. Apart from my own lack of self discipline, I have two teenagers and MrM. We all suffer from a sweet tooth and anything would be gone in a matter of a few days.
You're right about the holiday being paid in cold hard cash though. This is our first trip abroad for 6 years and obviously had to pay out for doggo to be looked after too. The bathroom does really need doing though. Ours is so old and unloved. We will still have about £3k in savings and I'm getting a bonus later in the year for introducing a new staff member. Just waiting on her 6 months to be up and getting permanent contract. I've been told this isn't in question, she's great and everyone loves her.
@BadBookkeeper is so hard to part with our hard earned money once we're on the debt free journey! I haven't got my head round the burner accounts and switches. Not sure I could cope with it! 🤣
Has a £34 spend in Sainsbugs today but this is from the grocery shopping. Needed a couple of small bits that were missing from the delivery and whilst there MrM called asking if he could invite his parents over for a bbq. God job he did as really gave me the incentive to get the cleaning done!
Wasn't in MrM's good books this morning. Bought him some swim shorts size XL in Primani and they don't fit. Motor mouth 13yo told him I said he needs to lose weight. To be fair he does, but I was being tactful not just coming out with it. Oh well, hopefully he'll have a think about it and do something.
BBQ was lovely, in laws already gone home as they are car booting tomorrow. I'll take 13yo with me to look around tomorrow as it's local.
Going to have an early night as I'm shattered after my early wake up call.Credit Cards NOV 2019 £33,220.42 Sept 2023 £19,951.00 Tilly Tidy 20223/COLOR] Sept £43.71 Here's my diary: A Ditherer's Diary Again2 -
