Whoop, whoop, whoop for the sub £20K debt figure!! 🎉🥳🤩😊👏
That’s an excellent EF too - if you look back at your earlier posts that is a significant shift, I think.
You are slowly picking away at it all 😊

    Thanks @lucielle & @KajiKita

Everytime I've "been away" from the boards before, I've come back with higher debt. This time it's still gone down, the EF built up and we paid for a holiday in full without credit. Obviously something has finally stuck in my head! 😆

I was a bit cheesed off with MrM as I told him we were sub £20k and he made a face. He's not the one with the worry, looking for deals, checking balances.  Pointed out to him it doesn't all just look after itself and we're in a good position. We pay £525 a month at the moment so think what we could do with that spare each month! With that in my head, I popped in prolific and did the one survey I had waiting.

My bank account does automatic rounding on spends but I'm also going to get back into tilly tidying every day.

I have to collect my Tesco shop shortly. It came in at £70 but I know I forgot some bits so will pop into the store to to up. Will just need blinkers on! 🤣

What sort of face - disappointment that it's still high you mean? For the past 2 months mine has not listened to me about the various accounts that the money is to come out of to pay our CB CC (we pay the total in full every month) despite me having a detailed spreadsheet - one month when he spent ages getting the figures to the same amount I already had , I  took a screenshot of the s/sheet  on my PC and showed him how I'd already worked it out! I've just done this months based on the figures he gave me and I've requested he listens and doesn't argue about it this month -lol.

And don't worry you're not further on. I've had a diary (and not the first!) on here for 2 years and don't think I started making any headway till the beginning of this year. I even contemplated abandoning it at one bit but now glad I didn't. Totally understand what you're saying about what the money could be spent on instead, we pay £780 towards our debt every month and though one CC finishes next month we'll be no better off as the money that went to that now has to go to the other CC in order to end it before the 0% deal finishes.

@Spendless yes, it was a "I thought it would be a lot less by now" face.  I pointed out all we've done without using credit.

    Morning all,

I hope everyone managed to get a better night's sleep last night. It certainly felt a bit cooler here in Surrey.

Yesterday I tillied my bank accounts. Personal spends I have £87 to last 17 days. Joint account has £709 and I need to check what further dd's are to come out before payday.

I'd like to get back into having nsd's. Today should be one as I am wfh and MrM has returned home due to trains being cancelled so no lunch spends for him.

I've meal planned for the week. Last night's dinner was sausage, bubble & squeak with a fried egg.

About to start work. It's been a manic year and now we're looking towards the end of the year so I'm suffering death by spreadsheet 😬

Hope you all have a frugal day.

  • Ahh NSD's - I remember those! Actually, I'm with you - I'd like to go back to having those as well. I do have a planned spend today, but after than that I can't think of anything that will be needed this week other than travel related stuff - MrEH's car needs diesel, and he will likely need to feed his Oyster as well. My car will get me through until the end of the week with some careful driving...I wonder if I can get at least a couple of NSDs out of this week? I've got payments pending for a couple of Big River site bits but I'm viewing those as already spent as they are on the list on the account...

I don't count things like petrol as they come out of pre saved pots. I also don't count dd's that are due to come out.  For me it's leaky spends, lunch when I should have brought it in etc.

In the office Tues & Weds this week. They provide lunch on Tues so need to remember something for Weds. My car also needs petrol.

I like the description of ’leaky spends’ as non-qualifiers for NSDs - good one 😊

Horribly hot and humid here last night again - think the house is holding the heat. It is markedly cooler and fresher here tonight through so I have every possible window open! 😉

This is exactly what they are! Leaky spends. The money leaks out of my account!

Is definitely cooler here and I slept better last night. Rain predicted for tomorrow.

Work has been a nightmare, we are so understaffed at the moment. But, we do have a party on Wednesday night so I'm looking forward to that.
